Question Springsteen Controversy

I was wondering if anyone else is familiar with the current controversy surrounding recording artist Bruce Springsteen's yet to be released song entitled "41 Shots" (if I'm not mistaken)? I'm hooked on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and heard that the song was first performed at a concert in Atlanta last week.
Police officers were asked to boycott his concert at Madison Square Gardens because they feel it is anti-police. The song refers to the 41 shots fired at Amadou Diallo of which 19 bullets hit and killed him. Their excuse is that the city is in the process of healing and this is the worst possible timing.

I heard a little about it this morning while getting ready for work. These cops need to understand that they can't always supress people's expressions, even when they gun down many of us in the street. People of good conscience will speak on it, loudly!

Of course, now Springsteen is going to be harrassed by "security" at his concerts. Doggone shame!

it just goes to show that the police are more concerned about their reputation then about the INNOCENT YOUNG MAN whom they fired on 41 times and killed and of course they got off cause it was only an African. I'm glad Springsteen had it on his heart to write the song, its nice to know others are beginning to see how corrupted some police are. How can those men sleep at night?

I caught a little bit of it this morning on the Today Show. He performed the song and also invited the family (of the man who was killed) backstage. The police were upset about it and wanted to boycott the concert and asked that no police work as security. Last time I checked this was America and the man has a right to sing about whatever he wants! There is some saying that says...if you throw a rock into a pack of dogs..the one that barks the loudest is the one that got hit!

Talking about the NYC police... Did you hear that several young women were harrassed in the streets during a parade and the police did nothing to protect them although they repeatedly asked for their help. Two of them are suing the NYC for several millions each. I cannot believe that in such a large city you have to deal with an incometent police system. It' s a shame.
