new job

Me again. I just got a second job and I was hoping for some advice. I am going to be coaching a varsity volleyball team. This is my first coaching job and it is going to be a real challenge. Are there any coaches out there with some advice for a first-timer??

Excited and Very Nervous!!!

Erin

I used to play volleyball- still do in a sand volleyball league and the best advice i can give is-
1. Be sure not single out the "star" payer to demonstrate everything- it takes away from the idea of a team by putting emphasis on that person... instead let everyone demonstrate- and possibly critique each other.
2. For those that need more practice, be delicate in telling them, but honest. The hardest thing to hear is you are doing good enough and having the coach say it smugly
3. Have fun!!!! This can be a comradarie and a group to love to death!
