Convention
Okay, since I can't afford to got to convention this year and I don't know how many people on this forum are getting to go.
I was just wondering where everyone would like to see convention in 2005 (since they are every 2 years). And why would you pick that location.
I was thinking that it would be cool if convention was held in California. But I've also mentioned to a sister that I think it would be pretty awesome if convention was held in Vegas. Unfortunatly during the summer Vegas can be pretty expensive. But there would be so much to do (aside from gambling) to do in Vegas. The same would go for California.
I mean in Vegas, again besides gambling, there are tons of shows. Sigfied and Roy, magic shows, the dinner shows at the hotels. Plus there is all the stuff that goes on on the strip. I went to Vegas in high school for a choir tour and I couldn't gamble and I still had a blast.
As for California. There is always something to do in California. In just the LA area, there is Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Mann's Chinese Theater and so on and so on. In San Diego, there is the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Further North is Magic Mountain. Then there's San Francisco where there is Great America, the Wharf, Alcatraz, Golden Gate bridge. Plus all the cities mentioned have beaches.
I know the reason I'm picking those two spots is because they are closer to where I live, so getting airfare would be rather cheap, or I could drive if I wanted.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to afford to attend the 2005 convention, but so far the conventions have been way out of my budget. Being a poor college student, I really can't afford 700+ to go to Atlanta or Houston. Sucks though cause I'd really like to go to a convention before I get married, or most importantly before I have kids.
So what are everyone's thoughts. Wanted to get some conversation going on the board and I thought this might be a good topic.

I think it would be awesome to have the convention in San Diego...such a cool, laid back town. It's also pretty close to everything like disneyland, seaworld, and the zoo. And it's also near La Jolla beach, which is where I went for spring break this year.

I'd definately vote for San Diego....plenty to do & see and the weather is usually AWESOME!
Man, I miss that place.
Maybe I'm ignorant or missed this some where as a collegian but...how does EO decide where it will be held?

EO probably does decide but I wonder if collegians and alums could email where they would "like" to see convention held. They seem to be moving west though.
2001 was in Atlanta, which was pretty self explanitory considering if was our 150 years
2003 Houston (or is it Dallas), either way Texas.
Doubt they'll do Arizona again since they were here for the 1996 convention, in Tucson though. They could possibly do Phoenix, which would make my day cause I wouldn't have to pay for airfare or a hotel room.
I think San Deigo would be an awesome choice.
Same with San Fran cause up there it's really cool (weather wise).

Hi all! They rotate convention and VLS so it hits the West, Midwest and East Coast. Fear not, convention will be back in the west soon!
2001- Atlanta
2003- TX
2005- It must be in the west!
Personally, I'd love to see one in Orlando, where I went to school! With all the theme parks and family fun, there's a lot to do and a very accomodating hospitality market to make our Convention the best!
I will be in Houston next week and I will be sure to post a full report when I get back

I'd love to see convention or VLS come to the Northeast; NYC, Boston, Philly....I think there's so much to see and do in these places as well. I know that Northeastern ADPi chapters would love it as well.

I can't wait for your GC ADPi convention update! I would love to know about all of it, the workshops, the dinner, what you wear it's all interesting to me.
Have a wonderful time,

I would love to see it in San Diego...that's where I live, so as others have said, no airfare, no hotel costs...it would be SOOOOO nice! Anywhere else in California is neat too....my <> sister and I have made a pact to attend the 2007 convention together, since the 2005 one she'll just be out of college and probably in grad school soon after, but if it's out here in California, maybe I can convince her....
I also wouldn't mind it being on the eastern coast, too. I've never really been north of North Carolina on the East coast, and I'd love to see other areas of the country.
I can't wait to hear about how convention was, so I can start getting excited for the next one!

convention
Hey sisters
I think that it would be cool to have Grand Convention in Canada. I know that airfare would be increadible but the trip would definently be memorable. Especially for me since I am in South Carolina. Next week I will be attending my second Grand Convention and hopefully not the last. I am really excited!!!! For all of those that will be there see ya when I get there!

CONVENTION Starts this week in Houston!
I wish all the sisters attending the very, very best.
I can't wait for adpiucf's description!
Wish I was going...
Althought knowing myself I'd stress out for weeks about what outfits to bring...I could see myself with the equivalent of a steamer trunk as my luggage.

05 Convention will be in Phoenix.
FYI-- They are looking into Canada, etc., for future convention sites. Fear not, sisters, someday it will come to a city near you!!!
My dream is to have it on a CRUISE SHIP!!! Or in the Bahamas, as we did back in the 1950's!
Read all about my convetion experience on the other thread "All about Convention 2003"
The only calamity of the week was today-- one of my suitcases got picked up at the LAX airport by another passenger-- she realized her error and I am waiting for the airport to bring it-- naturally it was all of my make-up, purses and toiletries-- HORRORS!!!!
Can't wait to go into work tomorrow. I picked my accent back up when I was in Houston, and I can't wait for the giggles to start the first time I say, "All a'y'all..."
Pi Love Y'all!
