Question How much is too much?

Women interested in your sorority are told to learn as much about the sorority as possible, but I have a question. How much knowledge is too much and how much is not enough? I was reading another forum and a sisterfriend said she was memorizing all of your founder's names and their contributions (ex. Bulah Burk and the colors), and a few members told her that learning things such as that is an experience best shared with your linesisters. Is knowing how different founders helped to create the sorority too much? Is that truly something that should be learned while on line? I was also wondering how memebers know how much knowledge an interested person has gathered? Is the person "quizzed" like "Quick what are the 5 national targets?" are is it more subtle? Do you all look into the answers interested women give as to why they want to join? Thanks for your comments.

Hey Creek. I'm not a member of any greek org., but this is what I was told. When you are on line, there is no more "you". "You" becomes incorporated into "we" (as in you and your line sisters). If your line sisters don't know an answer to a particular question you don't know it either (even if you do). Being on line is to promote sisterhood. You are not there to show the knowledge that you yourself alone knows, you are there to show that you are bonding with your line sisters. Now if this info was too deep or incorrect, I apologize and the moderator can erase it if she deems fit. Once again, I approach this board with respect and I don't want to start any trouble. And if I did arouse any tempers - I'M SORRY!! Don't hurt me.

I think prospectives today have it so easy as far as doing research for any Greek organization. The internet has made it very easy to look up general info on the sorority/fraternity of your choice. In my mothers day, they actually had to work up the courage to ask a member of that greek org info about the organization, of course there was no internet. Some things you haould be able to figure out on you own. And CREEK the name is Beulah Burke.

Have a blessed day ladies!
