Angry National Directory CD - $79.95?!?

I understand the significant costs involved in putting together a handsome hard-bound directory, however, $79.95 for a CD seems a bit overpriced. Do you realize that a mass-produced CD, with insert and a jewel case costs just a little over $.05 to manufacture. Why do you think you get one from AOL every week? Don't you think that Bernard C. Harris publishing could cut us some slack on the price of the CD? If not, will someone who's already paying through the nose for it be a doll and put it up on Kazaa or something? I would like to have an electronic copy, but I wouldn't pay $79.95 for a directory CD even if there was the CIA's NOC list on it.

Sister in Shock,
Carrie

Kappa Sigma's natl. directory CD doesn't cost more then $15 I believe. $80 is outrageous and I would urge your nationals to screw the company over and pull out of any contracts.

Out of Curiousity, what GLO are you?

Zeta Tau Alpha

The issue I'm complaining about is a ZTA directory through BCH publishing, but from what I have read on the net, it is the same with other GLO's as well.

Obviously it doesn't cost much to duplicate a CD. The cost involved in a project like this is in the actual gathering, compiling and publishing the information.

Still, $80 seems pretty expensive. I got the last Delt directory and I think it was under $50 for both hard bound and CD. I could be wrong about that, though.

We do have to remember, though, that the folks who publish these things are out for the profit motive -- not to do us any favors.

I totally agree.

I wish I had felt that way when I published both the freaking book and CD. ISHT.

I believe the last invoice I received slapped me with a $100 or so bill.
