Post How Much Does it Cost?????

I was wondering if anyone can tell me approximately how much it might cost to pledge. Also, does anyone have have and idea of how to raise money or get someone to sponsor you if a person is not financially able to pay the pledging fees???

Thank You

Fees are something that will be discussed with you if and when you are extended an invitation to membership in AKA. Until that time, it's really not proper for members to discuss that with you.

As to you second question about finding a sponsor, I think that you should realize that membership in AKA, or any other greek organization, is an extra, not a basic or fundamental. If you don't have the means, you should wait until you are in a better financial position, assuming that your other credentials exceed the requirements.

When I pledged as a sophomore, money was tight, but everything worked out in the end.

Take care.

DG

I just want to add that you should not be looking for someone to sponsor such endeavors. I fear that if your sponsor is
not around the next time you need help you will then have to become inactive, and that is not what Alpha Kappa Alpha's lifetime membership is about.

Price is something that is not discussed as the other Sorors have stated but I would also like to add that membership price varies from chapter to chapter.

If you have a family member or friend that is a Soror and you think she has the funds & wants you to become a member then ask her to sponsor you. But if you don't know any AKAs well enough to ask then you probably should do it the old fashion way and get a summer/extra job.

Just to clarify, a sponsor is not obligated to pay your initiation fees. In fact, it's quite rare (I would have been elated if my sponsor paid for me).

But also remember that you are really not supposed to even know that you are being sponsored.

Just keep going to the events and putting a little away on the side at the same time. You will have to make a financial commitment throughout your AKA life, when and if you become a soror, so saving for the big event is the bare minimum.

Good luck.
