Thumbs up Oprah's Book Club is Back!

Oprah's book club is back. She handing out the book on her show right now. If you don't want to know what it is, don't look. I'm still waiting and watching.

I don't watch Oprah, but from what I understood, after the whole mess with the guy who wrote The Corrections, she didn't want to deal with the book club anymore . . . but she realized she missed it so she brought it back. She's only doing classic books now, though, so that way she won't have to deal with the authors.

She read his book and loved it, so she picked it as her "Book of the Month." The author was really mad because he thought his book was too "highbrow" for Oprah's readers and that they wouldn't get it . . . basically, he was a complete jerk about it and wouldn't let her use it as her book pick. He said some rude things about Oprah and the book club in the press, too. I think Oprah was offended by that, and that was one of the reasons she decided to end the book club.

I never heard that either. I do, however, remember the surprise when she said she wasn't going to do it anymore.

I saw Oprah today too - and that's rare for me. I dunno if I'll join or not. Part of me wants to but I also know how busy I get and I'm afraid it'll just be too much.

Glad she's doing her book club. I've been an avid fan of promoting literacy so I'm happy she's helping the cause!
