Cool ones we used to have (or have had) are:

"War Games" with the Pikes. We had 2 days of running around on campus with water guns soaking each other and getting points for "kills". You have to make sure your members don't get out of hand though and use them inside buildings, because we are no longer allowed to have this mixer.

"DreamLand" mixer with the TKEs this year. We had a pajama mixer where we played Twister and had s'mores, and told about our most embarassing moments (there were some classic ones!). After that, we went to one of the brothers houses and they had an entire room completely filled with white balloons and we whacked each other with the "clouds" for at least 2 hours. I have never been so tired after a mixer!!!

A funny as hell one that I've heard an idea for is a "Pirate Mixer". Granted, prissy girls won't like it, but I sure as heck would have fun. You split everyone up into a few big rafts, bring water guns and water balloons. Then you just bomb and shoot the hell out of each other! Of course, everyone has to be able to swim, or you do it in a really big swimming pool, but I think it would be totally awesome!

My favorite was the night that our chapters of FKT and Kappa rented out a Baskin Robbins after hours. All-you-can-eat ice cream!

Pulp Assassin mixer. Like the Pulp Fiction Movie. You all get together (the sorority and fraternity) and watch a sorta "guns blazin'" movie (like Pulp Fiction) and then everyone puts their name in a hat. You pass the hat around the room and everyone draws out a name. Then during the following week you have to carry water guns around and try and "shoot" the person whose name you pulled out of the hat. I remember running like an idiot in the library (of all places) from a Kappa who had my name. She shot me! Whenever you are shot the person who shoots you takes the name of the person you are supposed to shoot. The person with the most names at the end of the week wins! We did it with Kappa and Sigma Nu my sophmore year. It was wildly popular.

Aaah, fun memories

My two favorite mixers were the "Great Gatsby" mixer with the good-looking, preppy Delta Tau Deltas and the "Toga Graffiti" mixer with the hot bad boys, Pi Lambda Phi

Pitt People: Are you all even allowed to have mixers anymore? I'm thinking you don't?

"Paint Wars" with Alpha Tau Omega.... we set up their backyard like a paintball arena, complete with couches serving as baracades. We then cut up kitchen sponges into 1-inch squares and put them in big trash bins that were filled with a water/paint mixture. It was guys vs. girls.... but about 5 minutes in, everyone forgot about that and it was complete chaos. SO MUCH FUN.

"Superhero Bowling" with Lambda Chi Alpha was an event from my younger years as an undergrad: You basically made up some sort of superhero, either traditional (Superman, etc.) or something more creative (Super Sorority Girl, Super Beer Man, Super Crazy). We all went to a bowling alley and had a blast - but every single year we got kicked out by 10pm. Hella fun, but I think the costumes made everyone get a little TOO out of control.

chill out
if i went around correcting every grammar mistake i see on GC, it would be a full-time job. thankfully, this is just a fun message board and perfect punctuation and verb forms are not always needed to comprehend what's being said.

Most fun mixer I think we had was a Graffiti party with Alpha Phi. I tend to prefer all house get-togethers than the usual 4 house parties that get thrown here.

I want to try those two mixers, thanks for the ideas.

I think the war games would get a little out of control though, I don't want to think of the consequences of hitting innocent bypassers with water balloons.

But anyway, I'll definately bring those up next time i see the vp of programming.

I think "funnest" is better than "most fun" anyway.

Do the monster trucks ever come to your school? Well, here in Champaign this is a delightful event.

Also, you can never go wrong with a barndance, but that may be a central Illinois thing as well.

they can mix, they just have to use a third party vendor (at least the sororities do). Too bad Pi Lams aren't recognized by the University anymore. We never got to do anything fun with them.

I had a lot of fun when we could mix. Similar to graffitti mixer - we had two finger paint mixers, one with theta chi and one with phi sigma kappa. I still have the shirts from both of them, it was a lot of fun!! Of course our halloween mixers were always the best! There are a couple that I definitely wouldn't want my chapter to participate in that were fun - so I'm not posting them here and giving anyone any ideas!

My favorite was our disco mixer with AEPi when I was pledging. This was wayyy before everyone did them all the time. I think that when a mixer has a theme, its success depends on how involved people are with it

We had a "Barbie & Ken" party with Pi Phi, Sig Ep, and Farmhouse my freshman year and it was a blast! The one from last year that stands out most in my mind is our Superhero party we had with Kappa Alpha Theta, Phi Kappa Theta, and Phi Delta Theta. A lot of the girls from my chapter bought the little boys briefs that come with a superhero t-shirt (like Batman, Superman, etc.) and then we all stretched them out REAL well before we wore them hehe. It was a great time though!

We've done that here, except that you can't be shot in front of any of your sisters or brothers as the case may be. I remember kidnapping some guy to get him alone and shoot him! *L*

Edited to say: Another one I've heard of from other AOII chapters is the Harley's and Honey's mixers. The guys dress up as bikers and the ladies as the biker honeys all decked out in Harley *or as close as you can get* gear. Looks like fun.
