I just watched Jay Leno's monologue. I usually don't watch him cuz I'm just usually not home at this time. I thought it was hilarious until....

he started making jokes about the new resort in Cancun for overweight people. He was making the RUDEST jokes ever. I took great offense to that and I actually wana go to this resort. I can't believe that he can get away with making some jokes that he makes. And the whole audience was cracking up! He even made a joke about a lady who just got out of a coma of 4 years. If he had made a racist joke then you know he'd be in trouble for it. So why wouldn't he get in trouble for making rude jokes about overweight people?

And why is he making fun of overweight people? I mean I know he's not obese or anything, but he's kinda a large dude, isn't he?

Why do people like him make fun of others? Because they can. Why can he? Because we all like a good laugh and encourage this sort of behavior because if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at. At one point in time (in life) we're all made fun of and when someone ELSE is the butt of the joke then it boosts our self esteem.
That's just my thought on the issue.

The only thing on LENO that I like (btw) are the newsclippings

All jokes make fun of someone (or something)...that's what a joke does... and Leno makes fun of just about anything...you can't take it to heart.

I wanna go there, too! Anyway, I went to see Jerry Seinfeld and he was making fat jokes, too. I think it's just one of the last groups of people that people feel they can openly make fun of. I'm not defending it, but I just feel like I can't let it bother me anymore. I'm sure Jay gets made fun of enough for his chin, anyway.

OMG! I deteste Jay Leno! He always makes a redneck,idiot, or just false joke concerning the state of Kentucky. I'm sorry, I know its fun to make fun or whatever. But seriously there really are people in the America that think Kentuckians don't wear shoes, or we don't have air conditioning or that we marry our brothers. Whatever! And then he sits there and makes it worse! Let it go! When he makes fun of Cali. its always something stupid or that isn't true that is a known fact b/c L.A is so big. But come on, do outsiders know that much about what Kentuckians do. NO! WHen I was in L.A a woman actually told me how proud she was of me for having such nice shoes and coming where I was from. Are you kidding me?? Kentucky is not a third world country people!!!!GRRR!!!!

I'd like to slap that man!

It's not the fact of what I heard cuz I"m NOT stupid... I know I coulda turned it off. It's the fact that I can't believe he can get away with saying that stuff but if he were to make jokes about another group, all hell woulda broken loose. But other than that, his jokes are just rude. Is that funny? Cuz it sounds like a joke he would say. Oh wait... it's similar to one he told last nite.

I'm not sayin "hey making fun of yourself or others is horribly bad", but it's this type of shit that encourages young people and says to them "hey it's ok to make fun of these people". Then those people go on to make others' school live's hell and then scarred for life. How fucking funny is that?

like smiley21 said, not all his jokes were written by him.. the show has writers.

also, people like jay leno, conan o'brien and other comedians make people laugh.. that's their job, that's what they do.

they've cracked jokes about pretty much everyone and everything so I personally wouldn't get upset if he said something on a tv show that offended me.. but that's just me.

I think people should really have a sense of humor about who they are. If you're overweight, laugh at fat jokes. When I go to comic acts, white people jokes are probably some of the funniest ones comedians tell. Are they all true? No! Are they funny? Yes!

All I can say to people that are offended by jokes is to get over yourselves.

I can see the problem if a comic's jokes started like "Two n****** walked into a bar." But really.. as the great Tom Earp would say "Your self-importance is underwhelming".
