My friends from high school are in a band called Nexus. They play around the bay area. They also have a site, Nexus Connection. I think they're a pretty good band, their style is Tropical Funk with scratching and stuff its pretty unique... On their site they have a few songs for download, "Everything" is the best IMO
My favorite Athens band, Legend Has It. They started off as a cover band, but they have put together a demo CD of 5 originals and 1 cover.

Then a guy a went to high school with has a band too. I've never heard them in person(he's at Georgia Tech), but I've checked out their website and heard a few:
Anyone who went to school in Indiana probably knows about Rich Hardesty. He is an IU grad and has several CDs out. (You can here some of his music on the site) He is going to be doing a show at Gamekeepers in Chicago tomorrow, which I plan to attend. He's a really nice guy, too...oh yeah, and he's hot.
