If I were to Propose to her

My girl is a Delta,
Lets say I were to propose to her
what are some good, romantic ideas???????

I remember one person put "will you marry me" in the school newspaper
that was kind of cool, i guess, if she read it that morning, LOL

Re: If I were to Propose to her

I'm sure whatever you do will be special. I think proposing to her in front of her family would be nice.

Getting proposed to in a park or jazz club would be romantic. At least that is where I would like to be proposed to. But to be honest, right about now I wouldn't complain if someone proposed to me in a shoe. I'm sure that anything that you choose to do will be romantic.

Thumbs up It depends...

I think it depends on if you want it to include other's or just you two...but my ideal proposal would go something like this:

Send some Flowers(her favorite kind) to her job...and over do it...not the normal amount. Attach a note telling her to go home after work and get dressed for a night on the town. Send a car for her and have it take her to you. You will be waiting at a very nice, upscale resturant. Somewhere she has been dying to go. Have a nice evening and pour on the charm, lay it on thick...She will be like "I wonder what's he up to??" At the end of the evening start explaining how much she means to you, yada, yada, yada...The waiter comes over and ask "Any desert Sir?"and you say "YES"...that will be his que...have the waiter come with the ring in the open velvet box on a silver platter and right as you get to the will you marry me part he brings it over and serves it up for you...

LOL, you've been watching a little too much television.

For some reason I wouldn't want my man to go all out. I want my proposal to be very simple. I keep imagining my man proposing to me when I look my worst. Like after I've just woke up in the morning. Then he'll say something like "You're beautiful no matter what, I love you no matter what, yada yada, so I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Thats how I invision it

Yeah, you're right. I just can't seem to get the person who I want to do the scratching.

I think a Treasure Hunt would be nice and creative. You can plants things all over her house/apt. while she's at work/school and make the final part of the treasure hunt end with the engagement ring in a nice big box.
My ex-boyfriend did a treasure hunt for me one Valentine's day and I'll never forget it. I'm sure your soon-to-be fiancee wouldn't either.

Well see thats the problem...

I dont know if she wants me to go all out or something calm, quiet and reserved...

I would ask her girls, but all of her best friends are Deltas, AND, dont get me wrong, you know how you ladies can be sometimes, some of those girls cannon keep a secret for the world,

I had some suggestions...

1. taking a carriage ride downtown, and doing it then, but its loud and not quite the right moment,

2. a restuarant, but i want to be orgianal, sort to speak

3. she likes sports, an announcement at a game, but i guess thats tacky, isnt it

I dont know, i want this to be memorable, for the rest of her life, since it only happens once

Theo, what does Delta have to do with the engagement? You keep mentioning Delta, so I'm just wondering.

i mentioned it because my girl is a delta and her friends are deltas, and im in a delta forum...and i thought as sorors you might have some idea about cases with other sorors.....

My girls loves her sorors and since i cant ask her immediate friends, because they will probably tell, i figured ill ask you ladies.....

Unique Idea

One of my friends just proposed to his fiance and I thought that the way he did it was really smooth. He took her to a really nice restaraunt where they had dinner. When they were leaving, he noticed that he had a flat tire. He popped the trunk to get the spare. He asked her to get out of the car and help him change the tire. When she came around to his side of the car to help, he was on one knee. Originally, she thought he was changing the tire but he had the ring in his hand.

What's smooth about this, you ask? What's smooth is that he had his brother come to the restaraunt during dinner to the let the air out of his tire. I thought that was so cute and creative.

Needless to say, she said 'YES!'

This just came to me

Make it a Crimson and Cream night

What I mean is this, that whole night you involve Deltas in the convo or evening, i.e. you read her some Love Poetry by Nikki Giovanni, watch a movie with Ruby Dee in it (or other DST actress), talk about some other influential Deltas who have impacted your life. Then you end it with how they are not the only ones to have affected your life, blah blah blah, will you marry me.

**this just came to me so I have not hatched it all out. But THEO dear heart, whatever you do show your sincerity and come back and tell us how it went.

**********EDITED*********

Cook dinner for her -- Crimson and Cream foods, i.e. Spaghetti, Red Kool Aid, Red Velvet Cake and red and white jelly beans (YUM).

Have Crimson and Cream candles lit all around the house.

Have rose petals all over -- guess what colors?

Have a RED LIGHT SPECIAL.

Write a proposal poem to her.

I have a friend who bought red and white christmas lights and hung them around the bathroom (which was also decorated in red and white). It gave it a really nice ambience.

I think it would also be nice cover the floor with red and white balloons.
