your favorite song lyrics?
I'm obsessed with music. I put song lyrics EVERYWHERE. My IM profile was full of them, they were e-mail signatures, and I even had them written on my wall once. They start out every entry in my online journal too.
So what are some of your favorite song lyrics? Make sure to include the song and artist - I'm always looking for new music to download!
As of right now, this is the song stuck in my head:
And it all comes down to what we're feeling now
And I know what I see when I look into your eyes
I'm inside you
And you don't even know it
Deep inside of you
And it's time to show it
Deep inside of you...
- The Clarks, "Inside You"

haha...I'm surprised I didn't come across it earlier. I've been going through all the old threads this week. It's pretty slow at work. Oh well.

I know there's already another thread about this, xok85xo, but there were bunches of us who didn't get the chance to weigh in there, so I'm going to continue it on this new, fresh one.
First off, there's a correction that needs to be made about a post on the last thread. The song "Romeo & Juliet" was incorrectly attributed to the Indigo Girls. It is actually a Dire Straights song that Amy Ray covered on the Indigo Girls' Rites of Passage album.
Now, for some of my favourites.
When I say "You sucked my brain out,"
The English translation is,
"I am in love with you and it is no fun."
-Ani DiFranco, "Dilate," Dilate
To love another person is to see the face of God.
-Fantine & Eponine, "Finale," Les Miserables
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand.
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command;
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand,
For the times they are a-changin'.
-Bob Dylan, "The Times, They Are a-Changin," The Times, They Are a-Changin'
Oh, you set up your place in my thoughts;
You moved in and made my thinking crowded.
-Indigo Girls, "Mystery," Swamp Ophelia
I was brought into this life a little lamb,
A little lamb courageous, stumbling.
Fearless was my middle name,
But somewhere there I lost my way.
Everyone walks the same,
Expecting me to step
The narrow path they take.
They claim to walk unafraid.
I'll be clumsy instead.
Oh my, love me or leave me high.
REM, "Walk Unafraid," UP
And this is just to start out... I'm really bored at work today, so this could get long.

Ill throw a few in here.Song lyrics are just awesome.
"A star up in the sky goes slowly passing by,
The lights below...they spell out your name.
You're comfort on my mind and you're with me all the time.
And lot's of feeling that I can't explain.
I won't spend another night alone.
Out of every girl I meet, no other can compete
I'd ditch em all for a night with you.
I know you don't believe you mean this much to me
But I promise you that you do.
If I had one wish this is what it would be...
I'd ask you to spend all your time with me,
That we'd be together forever.
We'd buy a small house in south central L.A.
Raise lots of kids then we'd both join a gang
Just as long as we're together.
The things you make me wanna do
I'd rob a quik-e-mart for you
I'd go to the pound and let all the cats go free
Just as long as you'd be with me."
The Ataris-I wont spend another night alone
More later, i just love that song

I agree KappaKittyCat-Old threads are great, but there are so many NEW people on GC, it's nice to hear their opinions. Plus-sometimes after consideration, opinions change!
I probably posted this on the old thread, but my son gave me a BackStreet Boys CD (YES, I really like them!) On it is a song called The Biggest Fan- it taks about a son thanking his Mom for always being there and cheering him on. Can you say misty eyed? Sweetest gift ever---well, next to some of the pictures and poems he wrote when he was a tyke!

I'll post the lyrics, can any of you other '80's people guess the song and artist?
I would say I'm sorry if I thought that you would change your mind
But I know that this time I have said too much, been too unkind
Misjudged your limit, pushed you too far
Took you for granted, not that you need a reminder
I would do most anything to have you back by my side
But I just keep on laughing, hiding the tears in my eyes...

"Have you ever seen a woman coming out of New York City with a frog in her hand?" - Gavin Friday (not that I know what the lyrics mean!)
"There's a lot of opportunities - if there aren't you can make them." - Pet Shop Boys, "Opportunity"

I have an odd array...
"And twilight descends on our sillhouettes/ How soon spring comes/ How soon springs forgets!"-some Jewel song, can't remember the title
"Let me drink deeply from the water and the wine/ Light colored candles in dark dreary mines/ Learn to read books in the studies of men/Born on the breeze, but die in the wind." Elton John "This song has no title"
"Oh how I wish I could take it all down to my grave/ God knows I'd save and save/Hey man take a look again the things you have collected/In the end they all pile up so tall to one big nothing, one big nothing at all."-DMB "Seek Up'
This thread is cool. Let's restart or continue the old one!!

Jennifer Lopez Ain't It Funny (not with Ja Rule)
It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you and me
It's so ironic you're what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives we can never change
Just tell me that you understand and feel the same
This perfect romance that I've created in my mind
I'd live a thousand lives each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves in a less than perfect circumstance
And so it seems like we'll never have the chance
Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny
And you can't move on even though you try
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh I wish this could be real
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart
Sometimes I think that a true love can never be
I just believe that somehow it wasn't meant to me
Life can be cruel in a way that I can't explain
And I don't think that I could face it all again
I barely know you but somehow I know what you're about
A deeper love I've found in you, and I no longer doubt
You've touched my heart and it altered every plan I've made
And now I feel that I don't have to be afraid
I locked away my heart
But you just set it free
Emotions I felt held me back from what my life should be
I pushed you far away
And yet you stayed with me
I guess this means
That you and me were meant to be

so many lyrics, so little time
but you know, I'm really one of those people that goes for the sound of the music rather than the lyrics.
"We're only immortal for a limited time." -Rush, "Dreamline"
one my ex-boyfriend used to love:
It was long after midnight
When we got to unconditional love
She said "Sure, my heart is boundless
But don't push my limits too far."
I said "If love was so transcendant
I don't understand these boundaries."
She said "Just don't disappoint me,
You know how complex women are."
-Rush, "Cold Fire"
and the song "Carve Away the Stone" by Rush is about me, but it'd get too long if I posted it all here.

I've been listening to a lot of Incubus lately, and I absolutely love "Warning":
Bat your eyes girl,
be otherworldly.
count your blessings,
seduce a stranger.
What's so wrong with
being happy?
Kudos to those who
see through sickness.
When she woke in the morning
she knew that her life had passed her by.
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by."
I suggest we
learn to love each-
other before it's
made illegal.
When will we learn?
When will we change?
Just in time to
see in all fall down.
Those left standing...will make millions
...writing books on the way it should have been.
When she woke in the morning
she knew that her life had passed her by.
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by."
Floating in this
cosmic jacuzzi
we are like
frogs oblivious
to the water
starting to boil.
No one flinches,
we all float face down.
When she woke in the morning
she knew that her life had passed her by.
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by."

"And we never failed to fail...It was the easiest thing to do..."
-The Southern Cross
CSN&Y
(Actually just kidding, but I think it's kinda funny)
