Internship = Boring???
Hey all this is the second week of my internship and so far its boring. Im not complaining because there are perks. It pays very well, I have my own desk behind a door, I have my own computer, email, and phone but its been really slow. The majority of the time I have been surfing the web, calling friends, and occasionally doing off. My managers told me that things will pick-up as the summer progresses, so im looking forward to that. Does anyone else have a similar story????

That's how my internship was the last 2 summers. I hop on here because it's just hard to find enough work to keep an intern busy because you're not as qualified and you don't know how the system works yet. Just go around and bug people for work and eventually they'll find you something.

You need to take initiative. Why did you take this internship? I'm sure you don't want to sit on your ass all day. What are the regular employees doing? Is anyone doing anything you'd like to know more about? Ask to shadow, offer to do the grunt work or to do their initial research, offer to make some phone calls. DO SOMETHING or you will end up wasting your time...
I'm not admonishing you, but one thing I'm learning is that you get what you ask for and what you put into it. No one hands you isht in this world...

LOL, I'm sure most internships are boring. Most jobs are boring.

Its just a slow office. There are about 10-15 people working here. They are a government contractor and they are waiting on the government to release some sort of information. Until then itts pretty dead.
