Favorite Award Ceremonie

I was just wondering out of all the Award Ceremonies (The Golden Globes, The Oscars, MTV Movie Awards, The People's Choice Awards, and The SAG Awards) which is a favorite?

I've always liked The Oscars because everyone is so glamorous ...well some of them at least. And I've slowly gotten into the MTV Movie Awards...just because it's a fun show where the celebs seem more true to their nature.

MTV music award show: has gotten a little bit better each time.

BET award show: everyone goes all out on this show. Gotta love it.

Grammys: needs to cut one hour off but other than that, it's very cool.

Oscars. I am a RABID Oscar follower. I start in November or December, and follow all the ceremonies leading up to them, and then drop everything for about a 12 hour marathon pre- and post-ceremony party with my friends. The main feature is a prediction contest. Last year I guessed right on all but two.

I also like the Tonys. I love watching all the performances.

My favorite is the MTV Movie Awards. I love the fact that all the people just go all out and you just never know what to expect!

I hate award ceremonies. though the Jammy's is pretty good cause it's more people playing then actual award ceremony. Although, AVN awards is prob. the best award out there.

The shows themselves are too long, but I *love* to see all of the fashions that people wear to these events!!!

When Saving Private RYan, one of the best war epics of all time featuring one of the greatest action sequences ever, lost to a fictitious, ridiculous and gratuitous tale about a girl who dresses like a boy to impress William Shakespeare, for best picture, The Oscars lost all credibility.

I basically got over all awards shows because most of them now cater to a mainstream culture. Even MTV didn't used to be like that. In 92 (or 93), best picture was between T2, Menace 2 Society, and a couple other VERY good films. Instead of picking the highest grossing movie of the year and was still a great movie, they picked Menace 2 Society, one of the most critically regarded movies of that year.

And when all awards ceremonies do is allow Joan Rivers and her equally annoying daughter to rant and rave about how everyone is dressed, even though no one really cares, you know these shows have reached their peak and are going downhill.

I'm not a rabid award show fan, but I like the Emmys the most. I love TV. But, the awards I follow are not broadcast. I am a foodie and love to hear about the James Beard Foundation nominees/winners.

Of all of the "original" major awards, I think the Tony's are the best produced -- for both stage and TV.

Looking forward to watching them TONIGHT!
