Rush

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make rush more successful our rush is a little on the lacking side because we just happen not to be very good at it, we always end up getting the girls during cob. So does anyone have any advice, you can pm me if you dont want to talk about it on the open board. But please help

Something that really helped our chapter was that a chapter consultant from Natl's came down right before Rush and gave us pointers on how to make it better. It was just a normal visit that happened to be the week before rush, but it did wonders for our morale and overall mentality. Natl's really has some wonderful girls visiting chapters, and I think one of them would be great to talk to!

Our chapter's the same way. We get most of our girls COB, and they're great girls, but it makes Rush that much harder, because they didn't go through it.....I think the hardest part is conversation. So if you can not be nervous and have plenty of things to talk about (I know, it's SO hard to make "natural" converation) then the ease and comfort in the hosue shows through.

And also getting out on campus and "rushing" not during Rush is godo too. And by that I mean wearing letters all the time, and going to parties as a group to show the underclassmen that you know how to have a good time together is great. And that way you can meet the girls before Rush, and know them before Rush, makes talking during Rush easier. Plus, you're jsut more visible. Anyway, those are my two cents!

start practicing the semester before rush! yeah, i know, silly thing, but most chapters don't do this. use some chapter d's as conversation workshops. i think the hardest thing with people who go through cob, is that they don't understand why rush has to be the way it is!

I agree wholeheartedly! It also makes you more prepared, so that you don't have to cram all your rehearsals into the few weeks of school before Rush begins!

I always felt that it helped to have a sort of script memorized, so that when conversation wasn't flowing and the PNMs didn't have any questions, you could "create" the conversation by yourself...and they could just listen. Sometimes, you'll say something that gets them going. If not, at least they walk away with a ton of Phi Mu info...

Think about answers to these questions...the advantage to these is that a lot of them can (and should) have a personal take, so each sister will answer questions differently and not bore the PNMs to death!

-Why did you join Phi Mu?

-How was your new member period, and how did you adjust to sorority life in general once you pledged?

-What sort of leadership opportunities are there in Phi Mu?

-What campus activities does Phi Mu have a presence at ? If you're in one of them, talk away.

-What has your specific chapter done to work for Phi Mu's philanthropy?

-How has Phi Mu affected your life (in a *positive* way, mind you!! )

-What kind of contact have you had with other Phi Mus not in your chapter, and how did that help you? (Again, good things...)

awww, man. Otherwise I could tell about all the trouble me and my sisters got into :-) but sometimes that's the most fun

Exactly, and gives the impression that you have fun times together and stick together if you tell some of the "we did this this one time..." stories.
