photos of national president badges
I've heard from a couple organizations that their National President's badge is different from the typical badges.
Anyone have a pic to share? I'd love to see a few.....

Unfortunately, Burr, Patterson, and Auld doesn't have a picture of the International President's Badge because only she can wear it.
This is the Crown Badge w/Tiffany Pearl and Diamond Pts., the most expensive Badge that members are allowed to purchase. The International President's Badge is decorated with ALL DIAMONDS. I've never seen it up close, but I'm assuming that it's very beautiful and it'll blind you!!!

Ours is not different, but the same one has been handed down since the 20s is my understanding.

Maybe one of my more technically-inclined sisters has a picture of our Badge to post, but I can't get it to appear!
Our National President's Badge is exactly the same as everyone else's except for the addition of diamonds in the three wings on either side of the lamp.
The Badge is handed down from president to president at the time of her installation, but Past National Presidents can order a Badge to keep after they leave office.

Good lord have you ever seen Kathy's badge? OMG it's huge! It's the same as our badge, except thicker and the size of, say, a dollar coin (those gold ones). It's so heavy that she can't pin it on her blouse... she had to wear it as a necklace! We told her that we were oh so jealous!

The Delt Presidents badge is the same except with diamonds. When former US Supreme Court Justice Tom Clark was International President, he was so paranoid about keeping it safe that he literally kept in in a safe in the Supreme Court building.

Alpha Phi President's Pin and it's History
Originally there was no standard badge. Until 1906 when the current badge was adopted, each member went to the jeweler of her choice to have her pin designed. Most chose similar designs using the “lazy Phi,” a Phi symbol turned on its side.
Today, special honor badges, replicas of the lazy Phi pin, are worn by international officers, and Educational Leadership Consultants. They are also worn by presidents of collegiate chapters while they serve as president.
Our chapter's pin had turqouise stones inlaid in the "A".

I saw the "Lazy Phi" that Sandy McCall Grant (the current NPC Chair) wears at the PacNW regional conference. I have never seen so many diamonds in my ENTIRE life. I was stunned then, and I'm stunned just thinking about it! I was so stunned that I can't remember if it was the Alpha or the Lazy Phi that was encrusted in diamonds!
Come to think of it, she wears hers as a pendant around her neck too.. I guess with all that ice, it's too heavy.

Wearing that special pin was definitely an added perk when I was President! I was so proud when it was passed on to me! I just wish I got to keep a replica!

The large badge Sally was wearing as a pendant is a special honor badge for her as Chairwoman of NPC. It is gorgeous!
I love our honor badges and the pre-1906 badges. My honor badge is the turquoise, but my next "big" a phi purchase will be a white gold honor badge with pearls inlaid.

Check out mastersofdesign.com. They have a lazy Phi one on there that is like the Chapter President one, only without the turquoise. Would IHQ let an alumni order that?

Lazy Phi badges are honor badges. They can be ordered by international officers. Consultants wear the badges with the turquoise. Collegiate chapter presidents and alumnae chapter presidents also have honor badges that vary based on chapter.
When you become an international officer you can order your own lazy phi badge and choose what it looks like within the confines of the stones we can choose from set in white or yellow gold.

There are only 2 versions of Phi Beta's badge- plain gold or gold w/pearls. Nothing special for the National Prez. (Although all diamonds would be awesome!).
I got to tour the Alpha Phi HQ last fall. There is a prominent painting of an alum-(I can't remember if she was a past pres, or founder, or why she was so important) and her badge was sort of just in the middle of her shirt. They said that for years the badge had been 'over the heart', but then a few years back they got it cleaned & discovered the badge had been moved to that position so they had it removed & the original one shows now.
They went on to talk about how for a long time the important thing was that members WORE their badge, not WHERE they wore it. Just some interesting badge history for Alpha Phi.
