Spike Jonze's Adaptation?

It's been written and directed by the same guys who did Being John Malkovich which I loved loved loved.

My problem? I haven't heard anything about it!! I'm going nuts. I saw the trailer for it before Punch Drunk Love and nobody else seems to know what I'm talking about. Please tell me I'm not the only one who is going to see this movie.

Okay, well, I have heard a few things about it. But honestly, they kind of confuse me. The movie is about a screenwriter named Charlie Kaufman (Nicholas Cage) who is trying to do an adaptation of a real book written by Susan Orlean who is played by Meryl Streep in the movie. He then somehow writes himself into the movie. And the guy who actually wrote it? Charlie Kaufman. AND there's a twin brother -- also played by Cage -- in the movie. Now I thought that the brother was made up but now I've heard that he's been given writing credits?

I'll say one thing for this movie: you know it isn't going to be boring. Or typical. And I'm a big fan of that.

Jaggergirl, you're not the only one. I've heard about Adaptation, too. It looks like it will be good--not your typical film. But, I admit that the plot is a little confusing. You might want to go to Entertainment Weekly's website (www.ew.com) for info--they gave it a really good review. And there is already "oscar buzz" about the movie, Nic Cage, and Meryl Streep.

Thanks for the link! EW does a really good job of describing it. Much better than I did. They didn't say whether or not Donald is real, though. I would not have thought he was -- I figured he played some kind of alter ego to Kaufman. But if he was fake there's no way he could get writing credits from the Writer's Guild.... right?

I've heard some of the Oscar buzz, too. Some people are wondering if Cage can be nominated twice for the same movie. I really want to see what he does in this.

I heard it's supposed to be one hell of a movie.

That's on my list of ones to see.

A girlfriend of mine lives in NYC and she says movie tickets for Adaptation are like impossible to get. She tried to go on Saturday and on Sunday.

All my movie buff friends are talking about Nic Cage getting an Oscar nomination for *both* parts he plays in the movie. That would be best actor and best supporting actor. Can you even do that? I mean, can you get nominated twice for the same movie?

hey guys, sorry that I'm posting back to back but I finally got to see the movie and it is fantastic! Totally weird and crazy.

There were parts when I seriously laughed out loud. My friend says it was worth the admission just to see Meryl Streep get stoned and cuss out Nicholas Cage. That was just hilarious.

Has anyone else caught it yet?

Man, what a trippy movie. I loved it though. We're still trying to decide what exactly the whole message of the movie was (if any)
