Where is your favorite Summer hang out spot?

Folks, I can't wait until June 20, 2003 - the Last day of School!

And I need your help with this - I'm looking for a nice quiet vacation spot for a couple of days(3 to 4 days). I really don't want to leave the country because of all the international craziness and just because I don't want to be in an Airport for a real long time. I just want to get some insight into your favorite summer hang outs. I really want to just walk around, check out the sites and do a little shopping.

Thanks in advance!

I think any costal city would be nice. You've got the beach, food and fun. In Houston, people ususally go down to Galveston Island beach. It is close and cheap, but it has a dead fish smell. The best is Corpus Chrisite, a 5 hour drive from Houston. Cleaner beaches.

SeriousSigma,

I don't know where you live, but I think Orlando's a great place to visit. The shopping is SUPREME, and I love to eat their seafood...can somebody say Landry's!! Girl, I could eat there EVERY DAY...their catfish is the BOMB!

Well I'm from NYC and the best thing to do in Summertime is to walk around the city. You can do all the shopping you want from all the different areas in the city. It may not be quiet as you would like, but it is a cool experience. I also heard from friends of mine that the poconos is very nice place to go for fun in the sun.

Good luck.

P.S. The summer is great for some free events from time to time. Like free concerts in Central Park or in Washington Park in Greenwich Village. It usually pays to look around for great deals.

Orlando is really nice (you can get any kind of cuisine or shopping down there), I also like the seafood in New Orleans and Seattle. Monterey, CA is also one of my favorite places to hang out. When I lived in the Bay, we would take highway 1 south from Half Moon Bay to Monterrey. The beaches are clean and cool and there is a big variety from the usual umbrellas and loungers to cliffs and wooded beaches.

Now for shopping, I like So. Cal (LA, Orange County, Palm Springs, etc.), Dallas, Houston and VEGAS!!!! Miami shopping and nightlife are nice, too.

I'd check the internet regularly for special deals. I've generally always found the best stuff on Orbitz...they have a special section for students too (milk the poor college student thing for all it's worth).

I think right now they're offering special deals to Ft. Lauderdale and other areas on Florida. You never know what you might find

I personally, really like the Gulf of Mexico, so any place in that area is nice (generally). Check out Lousianna and such.

Good Luck.

Red face Well I LOVE to travel....

Sistah girl be out on the regular.

I enjoy going to NYC in the summer. (I hibernate in the winter).

In the summer you can catch me pool side. I am a sun worshipper, I just love some sunshine, seems to make my whole day go better!

I might even head up to Cedar Point this summer, I haven't been there in years. We have a few pretty good summer amusement and water parks in Ohio that I like to visit.
