archon

Hey Sigsters!
I'm running for archon and I was looking for some advice! I know this question gets asked a lot, but hey, whats one more! My concern is that this year's archon has been horrible. She has 1 million other responsibilities and really has not been able to fulfil her position the way many people wanted her too. She is extremely disorganized and always looks confused. For this reason, I am concerned about her training me if I am elected. Is there, like, a manuel or anything in the archon notebook that explains the position???

Hopefully when you get her materials, you will also get a manual. It is slightly helpful. The best thing that you can do is be organized. Make a form for agendas and have an agenda for each meeting. Keep track of everything that National gives you. There is also a manual on E-board. Ask your advisor to see the big book that has everyone's job descriptions. That will help too. You have seen her disorganization, so use it. Don't do what she has done.
I personally came into a chapter that had been disolved until this past Fall. I had no training, and no one to train me. Just take the initiative and work hard. I put in a lot of time. Be prepaired... you take the blame for everything. If you have a good relationship with you advisor and DCP, you should be fine. Let me know how it goes... and you can always ask me for help by private message.

Archon

First off don't try to do everything yourself....even if you have just 2 or 3 sisters helping you, it is better than going it alone.

where to start? that's a hard question...I think you have to prioritize the problems. What areas are most unorganized and which are most disturbing the health of the chapter?

You could also just keep everything in order and work from the top down...(like the order in meetings, Exec board first then committees)

Just remember, don't get discouraged if things don't go your way...when i was Archon my vice did nothing and my MAL was practically non-existent so it was really hard to get anything done, but we survived and this year the chapter is a lot stronger for it.

Archon

I was recently elected Archon, and I need some ideas. I know that Archon does a lot of "behind the scenes" work. But does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what their chapter Archon did that was really out of the ordinary or unique?
Any suggestions would help.
Thanks a bunch!

our archon ran a sister of the month incentive program...each month sisters are nominated for doing out-of-the ordinary things or going above and beyond the duties of sisterhood. at the last meeting of each month we vote on the sisters who have been nominated! the winner gets a new set of letters

Cool New archons

With a new year, comes new archons (or maybe there are some 2 term girls out there). Well, I am a new archon and wanted to get in touch with archons of other chapters. I have some questions/concerns that I wanted to ask you, but didn't think I should just post. I'm excited and pretty scared at the same time. How are the rest of you doing??

Hey Fay,

I'm not Archon this year but I am the immediate past Archon. I've also been MOC (now SDC). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
