BET's new tv line up
Just wanted to let you know what was goinz on:
BET's New Fall Line-Up
By Soraya McDonald, Special to BET.com
Posted Aug. 13, 2003 -- BET is "Bringing Everything Together" this fall with a variety of programs to suit every taste. The new season premieres Monday, Oct. 6 with a lineup of music, comedy, news, public affairs, sports, gospel, and concert specials that will be sure to keep you tuned in.
Reality
Look for a fresh twist on the top-rated "Comic View" with "Coming to the Stage," a thirteen-week reality special to find the country's funniest new comedians. A panel of celebrity judges will determine which comics make the final cut, with the Grand Prize winner receiving their own 30-minute standup comedy special on BET.
Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Music
BET continues to be the paramount for music programming with two new shows guaranteed to keep you grooving: "BET: The Next," and "Grown Folks' Music."
"BET: The Next" brings you the new music first with a host who knows music from hip-hop to neo-soul and everything in between. Each week, videos will be chosen to highlight along with some background and words from each artist.
Fridays at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
"Grown Folks Music," is the video show that takes it back to classic old-school music when the videos were sensual and sexy, even if they featured artists with high-top fades and jheri-curls. Die-hard fans of Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, and Michael Jackson, this is your show!
Tuesdays at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Sitcoms
Follow Nikki Parker (Mo'Nique) and her daughter Kim (Countess Vaughn) as they make the outspoken, outlandish, and hilariously funny trek through their final year at Santa Monica College. "The Parkers" makes its BET debut this October.
Tuesday-Friday 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT)
Specials
Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will be taking her well-deserved place among music's elite with this year's "9th Annual BET Walk of Fame" concert special in October that benefits the United Negro College Fund. Franklin will be joining a legacy of music excellence as she joins the likes of past honorees Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Boyz II Men, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle and Stevie Wonder.
Tuesday, October 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
What's Coming Back
Returning favorites include "Soul Food" (Fridays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT), ComicView, (Monday-Saturday, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT) and How I'm Living (Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT). Your much-loved animated best friends, Monie and Yvette, return for another season on "Hey Monie" (Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT).
The best African American films still have a home on BET with "Black Star Power Cinema" and some exciting new titles have made their way into BET's library, including "Waiting to Exhale," "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," "Ghost Dad" and "Losing Isaiah." Grab some popcorn or your favorite ice cream and indulge with a good movie, Mondays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT).
AJ and Free are back for a fourth season with the hit "106 & Park to bring you the top 10 videos of the day and the best amateur MC at the end of each week with "Freestyle Friday."
Weekdays at 6:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Big Tigger continues to feature the finest in hip-hop on "Rap City: Tha Bassment" for the show's 14th season.
Weekdays at 4:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
"The Student Center" is still the place to go when school gets out, offering students the hottest info on news, entertainment updates, music trivia, and the hottest R&B and hip-hop videos.
Weekdays at 3:00 p.m. (ET/PT)

Hmm, I wonder how that works. The Parkers just started coming on UPN in the afternoon. Do they get more money because it is syndicated on two different channels or are BET and UPN a part of the same corporate conglomerate?

Well, "Grown Folks Music" has been coming on for a while on "Midnight Love." On Wednesdays, "Midnight Love" shows old school videos. That's basically what the new show will do.
