Question Finding a church home

Good morning sorors and SFs...

By the way, congrats and a big Skee-wee to all the new sorors that have posted

The topic gives the question away, I guess, but I'd like to ask for some advice on finding a church my husband and I can call home. There are SO many churches in our area, we are wondering how to choose one that we can feel comfy attending regularly and preferably(sp?) one in which we can begin to raise the little one once s/he arrives.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

APR

Five years ago I moved to Florida - the only person I really knew was a friend who didn't attend church on a regular basis. I was raised in the church and feel that actively working in a church is an important part of my spiritual growth. So I got a phone book -looked in the church section and for about 6 weeks I visited several different churches. Look for a chuch that is teaching the Word and see what other things are offered that are important to you (youth activities, study groups, etc etc...) I prayed and I let the Lord lead me in my choice.
Best of Luck and God Bless!

Hello Soror,

Traveling around in the military has afforded my family and I to travel alot. The one issure that we faced every two to three years was, what church should we attend. We managed to find a a loving home everytime. Making friends fast is not how I operated, I told you that to tell you this....You have to really allow the SPIRIT to lead you. Sometimes people get caught in the physical in the church....I believe when I go to church I should leave with a message. Through prayer all things are possible, you know that, so pray and let OUR FATHER lead.

Congratulations on your new baby!

I agree with Catwoman find a Church that teaches from the scriptures and encourages you to really study the bible for yourself and in group settings. Look for a church congregation that lives what they preach (love, unity, helping the poor). Most importantly pray for God to lead you to the Church that he wants for you and your family and he will show you where to go. Take Care.

When I initially moved to this area 10 years ago, it was very difficult for me to find a church home. Basically, when I joined my church, I felt right at home, and that was nothing but the Spirit. I would advise that you keep visiting churches, check into the ministeries that they are offering (i.e youth ministery, couples' ministery, praise and worship, women's ministery, ***CHURCH NURSERY***...) you may even be interested in attending one of their bible studies or see if they have a bible study geared specifically for women and one for men.

Everyone, thank you so much for the words of encouragement and advice. Our "church shopping" will continue this Sunday. We both are looking for a church home that is both uplifting and challenging. Prayerfully, we'll settle in somewhere soon.

Thanks again,
APR
