Delta Gamma on Happy Days?
i was watching a Happy Days rerun and Delta Gamma was prominent in it.
The boys were dating Delta Gammas and there was going to be a pinning ceremony.
And the Delta Gammas sang some song that mentioned anchors in it.
Anyone else see this? And would they have needed DG's permission?

I think this has been discussed, but one of the producers of Happy Days was a Beta Theta Pi (you'll see their paddle in Arnold's), and someone else in production (one of the writers?) was a Delta Gamma. Pretty cool, huh?

I've seen that episode of Happy Days... I thought it was awesome that my letters were in it.
I wonder when TV and movies started using mostly fake sororities and frats? I mean Happy Days was filmed in what? Late 70's?
Season 7
#152- King Richard's Big Knight (11/20/79)
Richie is crowned king of the Delta Gammas.

Well, Revenge of The Nerds was done in the mid-eighties, and those houses had to be fakes right? There isn't really an Omega Mu sorority or a Tri Lam fraternity is there? And Alpha Beta? C'mon, how made up is that??

I think the difference with Happy Days is they had an actual DG on staff and they were portraying Greek life in a positive way. When they were pledging a mean fraternity (that they depledged) the letters were fake - I think it was Pi or Phi Kappa Nu.
My chapter of APO is the Omega Mu chapter. We were around before Revenge of the Nerds, but after it came out, we definitely got cracked on about it.

I'm sorry but that's kinda funny. My school (University of Arizona) was the school used in the movie, in the movie it was Adams college. They slept in our gym (Bear Down Gym-the red and blue around the upper walls is really there, those are our colors) And the buliding that was used as their dorm is our Humanities building. The beginning of that movie is so funny to me because everytime they pull up to their "dorm" I see the Old Main buliding and fountain, and laugh cause I've studied at that fountain a million times

Richie, Potsie, and Ralph were all in Alpha Tau Omega. Happy-Days creator Garry Marshall (also father of Penny) is a Tau.

Not to mention that the book version of Legally Blonde uses real sororities names. Elle is a Delta Gamma, the woman she defends is a Kappa Alpha Theta, and Chutney, the real murderer, is a Kappa. So it doesn't even seem to me that the publishers restricted themselves to using names only with positive portrayals!
