Suggestions Wanted!
I'm planning on heading out CD shopping this weekend.... If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated....
I listen to EVERYTHING (but esp. Punk/Alt. Rock etc.) which includes Country, *some Rap/Hip-Hop*,Techno-Dance, Classic Rock, Show Tunes, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Top 40, etc. I want to find something obscure.... possibly something random but awesome....you know what I mean? I want to listen to it and say "Wow!"
All you awesome folks on GC really seem to have some good taste in music so....please help!
Thanks!
-Sarah

Not really obscure, but Evanescence is good. Linkin Park's new one is good. Try Dream Evil if you like the 80's metal sound, they are new, but they really rock. Interpol is interesting. For something different in Country, try Cooder Graw.

I just bought Heather Headley's "This is who I am " CD an it is awesome, very jazzy but fast paced songs as well. Try Norah Jones, India Arie for some of the slower stuff.

I'm diggin' Jack Johnson's new one "On and On" and Pepper's "Kona Town". You probably never heard of Pepper before, but they're touring around the country right now and I think they'll be a part of the Vans Warped Tour this summer. Pretty good for local Hawaiian boys!

Check out www.cdbaby.com if you want to check out some new music. They specialize in indie bands so you cant pick up any Linkin Park or anything but they have a really good search engine that can allow you to find bands that are like linkin park in music style, etc. Also they sub-catogorize their alternative section to
Emo
Progressive
Math
Garage
Pop
Punk
ETC................................. You should check the website out, I love it.

The Donnas are pretty good, if your don't have any of their stuff. There is some pretty good emo out there (check out Sunny Day Real Estate and Sam I Am). All American Rejects are nice. I'm on this Vanessa Carlton binge right now. If you haven't heard her album, check it out now!!! There are some amazing tracks that aren't radio friendly but really show how talented she is. Try looking into some good house music too. It isn't to big in my area, but theres nothing like a little Mark Farina to get the party going.

When I first heard Evanessence I thought it WAS Linkin Park featuring a female vocalist. But the rest of their alobum has only her vocals, plus a coulple of less-rock driven songs. The rest of the tracks sound a little more original

How did I miss the news about the new O.A.R. album?!?!?! Geez I must be living under a rock.
Anywho, if you like a little ska/reggae/alt. rock, try The Salads. They're a canadian group and I'm not sure if their new album is in stores stateside yet. You can order it off of their website www.thesalads.com for $8.

If you like techno stuff, go for Paul Okenfeld, or the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack (awesome)
