Clemson Chapters

Recently there have been a lot of threads concerning chapter totals. Numbers are constantly changing each year with graduating seniors and new pledge classes. It is one thing to publicize the business of your own chapter, but it's another to make accusations about other chapter totals on your campus and rank the sororities by these numbers. Many chapters are only within 5 or so sisters of one another. Clemson's campus has a lot of really strong chapters, and I don't see the necessity of comparison on strickly numbers. If you know that your own chapter is strong, you should be confident enough to not be posting chapter totals to make yourself feel better.

Do you agree??

I assume you're referring to BrownEyedGirl's post where she gave the approximate size of all the sororities at Clemson? If that's the case, then I don't agree. She didn't say "XYZ sucks because they don't have many members." She said, "XYZ, ABC, and PQR are the smallest sororities on our campus." That's not maligning them, that's merely stating a fact that most PNMs are going to figure out for themselves anyway. Does that mean that they have a bad sisterhood? No, and I don't think anyone was trying to imply that.

A number of Panhellenics post the size of each chapter on their websites for all the world to see. Some even put the chapters' average GPAs or intramural standings. If this information is elsewhere on the web, there's no point in not having it here.

ClemsonGreek, I know that you are referring to me and I want to clarify a few things. First of all, I was responding to some PM's I had received asking specific questions that could only be answered with facts, numbers in this case. The size of a sorority, I think we all know, has absolutely no direct correlation with the strength of a chapter or the closeness sisters feel with one other. If you inferred any reference to larger chapters being "better" than any other chapter on campus, I apologize. (Edited to say that I reread your post and I can guarantee that there were no "accusations" posed about other groups or "ranking" the sororities at all...each sorority has a purpose, a personality, and a place on Clemson's campus and without ALL of us here, we wouldn't have the strong Panhellenic system we enjoy. I don't consider facts accusations and I am sorry if you read my posting the numbers that way, but they were just that - numbers. Not intended to hurt anyone's feelings or put anyone down, just used to illustrate the situation.)

I was a Recruitment Counselor last fall and, while living with 30 disaffiliated girls from all ten chapters, I learned firsthand that there are fabulous, dedicated women in every CU sorority, and each group has something to be uniquely proud of. I hope you don't think I am trying to "make myself feel better" by stating numbers. Please PM me if you have anything else you'd like to discuss or anything you feel needs to be edited. I would be happy to talk to you about it. Go Tigers!

I completely agree that there are wonderful girls in every chapter on Clemson's campus. I also agree that many Panhellenics post chapter sizes. Clemson's Panhellenic however, does not for whatever reason. My only concern here is that perhaps you are not 100% qualified to post the chapter sizes of every chapter on campus. And because these chapter totals are not publicly posted, who made it your job to publicize them? How can you be so sure that the totals you've posted are correct?
You also mention that you are a former Rho Chi. I would assume that you understand the importance of privacy in certain issues concering our chapters. If you are receiving PM's about certain subjects, you should direct these questions to the Panhellenic website to find out the information that Panhellenic feels potential new members should know.
