Membership Advisor

OK I have a question. How does one become a membership advisor for a chapter? How do you know which ones need one? I live in SC and would like to apply for that advisership in a SC university/college.

I *think* every chapter is supposed to have various advisors, in addition to the general advisor. I know mine has a membership advisor and may have a ritual and recruitment one as well. But I'm not really sure how an alumna becomes one. The chapter's GA would probably be a good person to ask as well as a local alumni chapter if there is one.
