Chopper,
Please PM me with his name. I've spent a little time with that chapter over the past two or three years and might have met him.
Thanks,

chopper816, I saw that on the news in KC. What a sad thing to happen to a Fellow Greek and a young man who had many friends.
My heart goes out to you and the Members of DTD!

Chopper was kind enough to PM me with Bob's name -- which sounded familiar. As it turns out, he was the Alumni Relations Chair this past year, and, although I have no official link to their chapter, I am on their alumni e-mail list and had received communications from him, although not knowing him personally.
It was from that e-mail list that I officially received the notification of his death late this afternoon.
The Beta Tau Chapter at Lincoln is one of Delts most honored. They have been very friendly and kind to me when I've been in Lincoln for business or personal reasons -- a really good group of young men. I've been to dinner at their Shelter, attended a rush event there and even attended Ritual there one time -- actually the night before 9/11. I am very impressed with the brothers of Beta Tau, and am sure I would have been with Bob had I known him well.
I wish them solace and peace in their time of saddness as another Brother Delt passes, too young, into The Chapter Eternal.
Fraternally,
DeltAlum

Moderators,
If Chopper has no objection, it might be appropriate to move this thread to "Greek Life" where it might not get lost so easily...

I just saw the news from a Nebraska fan site I frequent.
I'm shocked as I'm sure all are. I had met Bob on several occasions and one of the older brothers in my house was dating one of his sisters.
Bob was a fantastic twirler, and at any sort of Greek event you could count that Bob was going to twirl fire. He won the 2002 All Greek Variety show as well as performing at Relay for Life and other philanthropy events.
I'm very saddened because I have several great friends in Delt, including their housemom, and I'm sure that there is much pain just down the street from my chapter house. I know there is pain all across the Greek community.
Here's a news link from the Lincoln Journal-Star

Betarulz,
Thanks for the links.
I know there's no answer, but when you read about a guy like Bob, you just have to ask why.

just an update, the funeral was today. it was very nice and well done. his fraternity brothers did some special things there that were thoughtful. it was amazing to see just how many lives bob touched, although not surprising. i was talking to one of my brothers and Lambda Chi is donating money for a scholarship or something like that, and all the other houses are going to be challenged to do the same, i hope they follow suit.

What a lovely gesture in remembrance of a special man! I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Brothers of Delta Tau Delta, and want to express my sympathy as well.

Chop816, I saw the video of the wreck. Damn what a sad sight to see for a young man who was at the top of his life.
Doing nothing and then gone.
It is heart rendering to hear about This Fine Young Mans Furneral and what the Brothers of LXA are doing.
Check the KC GC Gathering thread!!
God Bless him, his family and his Brothers!!
