Hello to all the lovely Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I need your advice BAD! Please help. Earlier this semester I went to an information meeting and they told us that they would contact us by letter even if we didn't make it. A young lady that works with a friend of mine told her that her roommate is "on-line". She said her roommate never
confirmed it but when she asked her she just laughed and said "girl what are you talking about". Her roommate is always coming in late and leaving early (which is unusual). She told her one day to wear pink and her roommate said (laughing) I don't think so. My question is: Should I ask the few AKAs that I know if they have a line going on now, at the risk of getting told off, or just leave it alone and just wait until they come out and cry like crazy. I want soooooo bad to be a part of your Sisterhood that when she told me about her roommate, I wanted to SCREAM. What should I do, please advise.

Also, what are the main requirements that you look for. I have a 3.75 GPA, very pretty, in a number of organizations, well-liked, and have a few AKAs as friends.

Unless you know this person who may or may not be "on line" as a personal friend, and know for a fact that there is membership activity,whatever you've heard is pure conjecture. If you know one of my sorors well enough to call them friends (and as a prospect, you should know at least one AKA well), you should be able to approach them about YOUR status, and yours alone. I don't think my sorors will take kindly to you asking them about what you HEARD about SOMEONE ELSE and what you THINK is going on. You shouldn't put much stock in rumor; the chapter told you that it would inform you of your status one way or the other, so take them at their word.

I agree with my soror. If there is an AKA you can confide in and she is a friend, go ahead and approach her about it. Don't believe everything you hear. However, there is one thing that sticks out of your post that troubles me. Being "ver pretty" is not a requirement for membership into AKA. I'm glad that you have confidence in your looks, however, I hope you have an inner beauty that reflects on the outside. Yes, we use the word "pretty", but it means so much more than the physical appearance. I'm sure you have a lot of other talents/skills and abilities that you could have listed instead. Let's try to avoid falling into that same old stereotype. I do wish you much luck in attaining your goal of becoming an AKA.

Thanks for your prompt replies. Just one more reason, of my long list of reasons, why I truly want to be a part of AKA. The love that you show to others, Soror or not. I will ask them about ME and hopefully they don't have a line now but if they do, I will
continue trying and trying. Is the AKA chat room here just for members of AKA or can prospects chat with you?

Hello ladies I have been on a journey to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc.During this journey I have gathered some much information and history along with all of the other requierments. However I have come to a huge road block I just found out that the chapter that I must go threw is suspended and has been for some time.What does suspended really mean. I dont whant to discuss my situation with anyone and i dont feel that I am at liberty to ask any AKA's
