Do you have a DG house?

Hi ladies! I know a new (or i think its new) idea has caught on about building Greek villiages and I was wondering if in your respective chapters you all had houses or halls or whatever? At Furman we just had a hall!

Here at NCSU we have Fraternity Court. It has 15 houses on it. It's kinda in a big horseshoe shape with a big grassy field in the middle (more naked fraternity men run across that field that could be counted). Not all of the GLO's on campus have houses on Fraterny Court though and a smaller version Fraternity Court is building up independently (the street is Greek Way and ZTA, Chi O, TKE, and Alpha Gamma Rho live there). There are also other chapters that have houses random places around the outskirts of campus. The houses on Fraternity Court hold 25-42 people each. Our house is full at 39 residents. Even if you don't live in the house, Fraternity Court is an awesome place to hang out...pranks and stuff are always going on.

Yeah, brand new chapter! Yay! We have a house, yes, but it is being renovated (it's the old TKE house!! You can imagine what it looked like on the inside). A group of us went over to see the inside now though and it looks really nice...I can't wait until it is all done. We will be able to move in this summer.

You're so lucky to get in on that deal. Right now, we have halls, but all sororities (except us and whoever the new sorority is) are building in the greek village. It's kinda a catch 22 right now because of this big transition... People's dues are tripling who have a house and sororities are losing as many as 50 girls, but if you don't have a house then people think that there's something wrong with your organization. Personally, I'd rather stick to keeping my low dues and my whole sisterhood, but it's a problem either way.

I see how that can be a problem. I hope that they decide not to do rush at the houses seeing as how everyone doesn't have one. This actually could end up being a big benefit for us with lower monthly dues. Who knows? Only time will tell!

Rush actually will be held at the houses. Those unhoused will be in the gym until pref night, and three of the four sororities without houses will be lent fraternity houses, and the one who's left out (which won't be us, we're guaranteed) will be in the gym for pref as well.

Wow I can't believe that?! Well are you guys ok with this? I think I may be a tiny angry but at least there will be other groups in similiar situations. That should be a comfort. Please let us know how your rush goes!

House

We had a house at the University of OKlahoma. (Still do, actually, although I don't live there anymore.) All the sororities and fraternities there have houses; I think it would doom a rush at OU to not have a house. But I can also see how lower dues would be apealling to rushees. I'll be interested to hear how your rush turns out.
