Soror Mary Church Terrell
If you are interested...
There is a building being constructed in downtown DC scheduled to open in August 2003 that is named in honor of Sister Mary Church Terrell. The building is the old Hecht Company builing on 7th & F Streets, NW where Mrs. Terrell staged her famous lunch counter protests of the old Hecht company diner.
This honor is a great one, being that this will be one of the premier downtown DC office buildings and it's located just across the way from the MCI Center and in the heart of the District's downtown revitilization area.
It would be wonderful if the Deltas could be a part of the grand opening celebration, I'll be there. For more info. send me a PM.

WOW
well, i just got teary-eyed. Soror Terrell was such a wonderful and inspiring trail blazer. I'm so proud to be her soror and so happy that they are constructing this building in her honor.

That is so wonderful! I am so grateful to Soror Mary Church Terell for setting pen to paper and writing the words I say each morning when I wake up. I regret that I won't be able to get to DC any time soon, but just to know its there in her name brings a smile to my face.

Let's Bring this back to the forefront....
Are there any Deltas that have ties to the national office, or with the eastern regional office. I would sincerely like to see the Deltas take part in the dedication of this monument to an inspirational freedom fighter.
I have sent direct emails via the national website to people that I feel may be key individuals, but have heard no response.
Help me help you!

Terrell Place at 575 7th St., NW Washington, DC will celebrate its' grand opening. I am attempting to coordinate this with the Office of the Executive Director for DST's participation.
