formal chaos leads to greek unity!

So i just wanted to share my formal experience with everyone. This past weekend we had our spring formal. We got a charter bus as usual. From the moment we stepped foot on the bus we knew something was gonna happen. Our bus driver was a punk. he wouldnt let any alcohol on the bus even though over half of us were over 21. The funny thing is we all walked on with some type of container and he didnt question any of us. All of a sudden during dinner we were informed that the bus driver was going to leave, because of everything he found on the bus. Things got crazy people started to freak out and the bus driver left!!! Thank god we got another bus company to come pick us up although we had to cough up another $600 on top of the first bus too.

In the meantime some of the SAE boys that were with us called thier brothers saying that we might be stranded. Everyone back at school (who didnt go) heard about our problem. 1 SAE and 3 Gamma Phis ended up driving out to where we were to make sure we had some rides home. How awesome is that!!!! (others were getting cars to drive out there but they heard that we had another bus and everything was ok)

This made me realize that our greek unity has increased so much! the fact that 3 girls not to mention from another sorority drove out to our formal to make sure we were okay was the highlight of my night! All in all our formal turned out to be great! i couldnt have had a better night with my girls.

But i have to definetly thank the G-phis again and any G-Phi-B on GC you have awsome sisters here in Cali!

I'm not surprised that you weren't allowed alcohol on the bus. I'm pretty sure it's an insurance issue if they did allow it. So your driver wasn't being a punk, he was following the rules. Open containers in cars, buses, etc no matter how old you are are illegal. But that is cool that all those greeks came to your rescue!

Depends on the state you're in. In Oklahoma it's legal to have alcohol in the back of limos and buses.

I'm fairly sure it's legal in Texas also... It was just passed here two or so weeks ago.

That's really awesome to hear that ladies from another chapter came to help out. I get really stoked knowing that people would be willing to help out no matter what affiliation people are (and it's esp. nice to hear that it was a chapter of my sorority! ) What campus are you from anyways?

I have to give it up to some of the ATOs from UCR for helping out at my semi-formal in Feb. Their president was nice enough to drive the guys from the pre-party to the bus, then pick them up after, as well as cart around some of the girls who had fought with their dates and made them leave early. They were really my angels that night. I felt good about myself because I was the sober sister last Saturday and picked up one of my sisters and her friend, a Pi Phi, from a fraternity formal that they were uncomfortable at... kinda made my karma go up a bit, I guess. :-)

So in return to the g-phis here at sonoma state, we drove them the other night from the pre-party to where the bus was picking them up. And it was actually so much much fun!

If your bus driver left you stranded like that you should be able to get a refund. You paid for return service and didn't get it.

Greek unity is good.
