How do we compare?

The Fratenrity Executives Assn. (composed of the paid staff of male GLOs) does an annual secret survey of GLOs in Oct. 2002, and the SAE magazine has published partial results for the "Big Six".

SPE - 239, 18, 5531, 13,907, 54, $425

Sigma Chi - 215, 6, 3418, 11,450, 50, $420

SAE - 208, 6, 3,000, 9200, 43, $545

PiKA - 208, 5, 4378, 10779, 51, $389

I remember reading this article. But what I would rather people pay attention to is what is happening on their own campus. The national office has granted only 7 charters since 2000 and has revoked 17 in the same period. In the '90s an additional 18 charters were revoked. In most or all of these cases, it was the exclusive fault of the local undergraduates who failed to keep themselves and their brothers in line with the True Gentleman. Just as a chapter would have to call a member to account for himself when he does something that disgraces the chapter, so the national office must call certain chapters to account for the same reasons. If the members of these now dead chapters had cared enough to study and follow the ritual, to be conscious of their reputations and of their appearance, had been true SAEs, their chapters would still exist today and its members would be having the ideal fraternal experience.
