UCF Greeks
I've been noticing that there seems to be quite a few UCF posters on GreekChat. So I just wanted to see exactly how many there are, what chapters we had represented, ect. So why don't all my fellow UCFer's reply with
1. Their Chapter
2. Year they plan on graduating/ have graduated
3. Major
4. What they like best about UCF Greek Life
For me:
1. Eta Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma
2. 2005, probably
3. English Lit (are there any other lit nerds out there?)
4. How supportive everyone is of each other, particularly as far as welcoming us (and other new groups) goes. We're super-competitive, but I've never seen things get nasty, at least in comparison to horror stories I've heard. (Admittedly, my experience is short. ) And all the Kappas will nver forget the warm welcome we received.

While we were on Spring Break, my two girlfriends and I visited the University of Central Florida. One is in ADII and I am, of course, in AOII. The chapter houses at IU are really big, but the other girl and myself were so impressed with the UCF houses. They are so beautiful! Are there some chapters that don't have a house on the campus or with the rest of the houses? We saw a sign for Lamdda Chi Alpha, but I don't recall seeing the house.

Here's the story... there are a LOT of unhoused chapters. I'm not sure of the stats for fraternities, but there are sixed housed sororities, and four unhoused. I think the fraternity stats are similar or an even worse percentage in terms of chapters housed on campus. Several of the fraternities have houses on what is known as "Ghetto Greek Row" just off campus. LXA is one of them, I think. what sucks, though, is the University Police doesn't patrol off camps, so I've heard of several crimes taking place there, wheras the campus is virtually crime free.
Greek Park 2 is allegedly in the works. From what I heard last, the Board of Trustees had approved it, and it was pending approval by Gov. Bush. (or someone at the state level) For now, though, no one is able to get a house on campus unless a chapter loses one. Which means that several groups have the means to build a house, but can't because right now the space isn't there.
Oh, and UCF is a wonderful school with a great Greek system. It's expanding very quickly; a new sorority (Kappa) and a new fraternity (Sigma Nu) have both came on to campus this year. I think Theta, the next to newest sorority, just came on campus the year before I came. (2000-2001 school year, if I'm correct.) GO KNIGHTS!

I was thisclose to transferring to UCF after my disney college program -- I loved it down there!! (Then again, so do 90% of people who do the college program -- and most of them are still at Valencia because UCF won't let them in.)
I think I'll wait until y'all start an Alpha Gam chapter, though. I'm trying for the University of Tampa right now, so who knows.
If you know anything about the Sigma Nu colonization, I know a couple of alums who'd be glad to help, but don't know who to get ahold of.

Disney College Program
OUKate...when did you do the college program at disney? im a Delta Gamma at the Univ of North Florida, but ive been working at disney since i was like 16 yrs old...almost 5 years now. what did you do there? i am in the entertainment department (characters)...so i was just curious how ya liked it down there...as far as UCF...its an AWESOME school! i think our DG chapter down there is unhoused, but im not for sure...i was sooo close to going to UCF...got accepted...but at the time when i was 18...i had the option of living at home with my parents and goin to UCF...or livin on my own and goin to UNF...so i did what any 18 yr old would do and moved up to jacksonville. UCF is definitely an awesome school though and from what ive seen visitin down there...has a GREAT GREEK COMMUNITY

I did my college program last fall -- just got back in January. I worked at ESPN at the Boardwalk, but one of my roommates was in MK entertainment as a character.
I'm still waiting to hear back from Tampa, but it hasn't been that long since I sent all of my stuff in.

The Sigma Nu Colony is probably recieving alumni help already. Part of the colonization process we uses creates a "Colony Support Committee" of alums that help in the planning stages of the new chapter. That would eventually transition to a Chapter Support Committee and a House Corporation.
If anyone knows about how our UCF colony is doing I'm personally always very interested in how our colonies are doing having been in one a little over a year ago.

ADPi@UCF
dnll7272...
do you know an yvette that is an ADPi @ UCF...i think she may be a senior because i think she was a freshman at UCF when i was a senior in high school...anyways...i know she was an ADPi @ UCF and also worked at disney with me and basically she talked me into rushing...she was even going to write a recommendation letter to the ADPi's up here in jacksonville for me...i was so excited about ADPi until i realized she thought i was goin to JU and not UNF...but yea...i tried contacting her awhile ago to thank her for giving me the inspiration to go through rush and end up making the best decision of my life to pledge Delta Gamma...but i havent been able to get in touch with her so i was just wondering if you knew her! either way...all ADPi's i have met have been absolutely the sweetest girls :-)

Got a friend of mine transferring from UNT to UCF after doing the disney internship about a year ago. He love it, but he's going to try to work for a year and gain residency and then try for UCF. I heard it was awesome he stayed in chattham I believe.

Hi there! Like sherbertlemons, I am a member of Eta Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Hopefully I'll graduate in 2005 with a degree in English Language Arts Education. I just want to say that our chapter (and I!!!) really appreciate the support that we've gotten from all the other Greeks beginning during recruitment up till now. I have been so overwhelmed at how wonderful everyone has been. Thanks soooo much!!!

I am a proud PI PHI at UCF!!
I am a Radio/Television Major graduating in 2004
The best part of being greek at ucf is that we all support each other and generally get along. We are competitive, but we dont let it get in the way of all of our panhellenic friendships. By not islolating ourselves, we all get better together!
