Point Break Debate

Me and a friend had this argument, did Patrick Swayze died at the end of the movie?

Probably, but you don't know for sure. They don't show him being killed. Johnny Utah(Keanu Reeves) let's Swayze go free and Swayze paddles into the ocean. Whatever happens next is anyone's guess.

Wasn't it implied that the waves were so big that they would kill him?

Yes, but there were also scenes in the movie that implied Swayze had 9 lives. Remember, these are guys that jump out of planes without parachutes and live.

At the end of the movie, there was a conversation between Bodie and Johnny Utah. I think they talked about the next time the perfect waves would occur and where it would take place. I had the impression that if they were alive they would meet there and go surfing.

To answer the original question, you really don't know if he lives or dies. The writers do that on purpose. If the movie makes money and there is a sequal, then Bodie would live to make Point Break II and if the original movie sucks then Bodie dies and is never heard from again.

Oh no! Me and my sister watched this movie so many times that the tape began to wear out.

We were young...fourteen and eleven.

Before that it was The Great Outdoors.

sigh...those were the days.

Exactly - that's what I was thinking.

I thought at first he died, but they do leave the option open for him to live.

A kid I lived with in the fraternity house a couple of summers ago loved that movie, so I ended up seeing it a bunch. Not the hugest fan, but if it's on, I'm not going to go out of my way to turn it off (depending on how lazy I'm feeling)
