Married By America

Anyone watch this show tonight? What are your thoughts?

It's not over with yet, so I'm reserving snarky comments until then. But I kinda don't think it's that crazy of an idea...

It was... interesting, I guess.

I don't get why someone would go on a tv show to find their "soulmate." Everyone of those people on there went overboard on their comments (I just want to find my angel... I just want to be loved for who I am... I am sure that this is my destiny). I wanted to barf everytime they opened their mouths. You know that they didn't mean half that crap.

On the other hand, how many people do you think will stay together long enough to get the money and the house, only to end up divorcing in a few months?

KDat UTC-I'm tired of these shows degrading how sacred marriage is.

I am so upset over this piece of trash for the very reason you listed! I actualy sent FOX an E-mail about it. Being a Catholic, this is a SACRAMENT! Most faiths view marriage as SACRED!

If anyone else shares this view, I urge you to contact FOX and tell them what you think.

If you think it's a "cool" idea-well then have your say as well...
I will NEVER watch this show.

edited-I made a serious omission in my original post and "ping" the old lightbulb went off at the grocery store!

I think the people who are on there and are ready and willing to marry someone they've never met are either crazy , desperate , or both !

I watched the first 10 mins and got very bored very fast. I think it's a stupid show.

Ok, this whole idea is a little shocking, but arranged marriages still go on today in other countries. They are for other reasons (family relationships, dowry, or whatever), but they seem to work!

I'm sorry but I couldn't believe that they kept the Playboy girl. If I had a say in who my son was going to marry, it sure as heck would not be to a girl who thought posing in Playboy is "classy".

it was too drawn out and boring.

Hmmmm...in no way I would be serious about marrying someone I never met. But, I would definately do the show (well anything, almost) JUST for fame.

I watched the last fifteen minutes and thought it was trash.

Jill Nicolini is the contestant that was a Playboy model. I think she's going to get kicked off the show.

I do not plan to watch the show EVER but I found this on SMOKING GUN. I am all good on arranged marriages as it relates to one's cultural practices but to have people who have never met you pick your spouse, naw PADNA.

MARCH 3--No phone. No TV. No pager. No computer. No unaccompanied trips outside your room. Sounds like the restrictions placed on someone under house arrest or a juror deliberating during a major criminal trial. Instead, these are some of the rules imposed on the quintet of contestants competing in "Married by America," the Fox TV reality show debuting tonight. The below "hotel sequestering" memo was distributed last month by the show's producer, Rocket Science Laboratories, to program participants. "Married by America" features contestants who have agreed to sight-unseen engagements engineered via a viewer vote. According to the memo, contestants need to be locked down like Gitmo enemy combatants to maintain "the integrity of this production." When TSG contacted one of the document's authors, producer Shannon Keenan, she didn't want to answer questions, but did confirm that a sequestering memo had been distributed. So we're not sure why the show--supposedly an unscripted reality program--needed "rehearsals." (3 pages)
