What Phi Sig means to me...my time as a Phi Sig has more or less molded me to become the growing adult that I am. I have learned so many new skills and gained so many new values. Not only has being a Phi Sig created many new memories, it has allowed me to become a responsible and respected young women. My sisters are the best and closest people in my life. We share the good times, along with the rough times. We don't always get along, but that's what makes us stronger. Finally, being a Phi Sig has helped me begin the best relationship of my life. If he hadn't kissed me at one of our socials, I don't think that we would have ever gotten where we are today (yes, I am referring to a fraternity boy). I owe so much to Phi Sigma Sigma...I only hope that I can continue to give my fullest upon graduation from college.

(I'll give my answer later... gotta think about it, to make sure that it doesn't sound cheezy!)

PHI SIG means SOOO much to me... and I've only belonged for like bearly four months now... but it means.... that there is always someone there if I need to talk... I can always find someone to eat with during my breaks from class.... I always have something to do... whether it be a meeting or planning an event.. making a phone call to find info about something.. almost always something to do. I went to 2 different schools before I came to SFSU... and was never very happy at any of them... never felt like I belonged to anything. With these girls I know I'm accepted for who I am and what I want to become and they support me.

Phi Sigma Sigma
What Phi Sigma Sigma means to me:
It means friendship. Constant loving and caring friends, that will be there for me whenever I need them. And who know that I will be there for them, in their time of need.
It means pride. I look at everything we've made and obsticles we've come over, and know that I have helped make history in Phi Sigma Sigma.
It means wisdom. Knowing all that I have learned, and all that I still have to learn.
It means growth. Phi Sigma Sigma is helping to guide my way to becoming a responsible, caring, honest woman. To help me succeed in everything I do and will become.
Well ladies, this is just a little bit of what Phi Sigma Sigma means to me. I'll post more later!

Phi Sigma is something more than goofy letters on a shirt to me. IT is the pride i feel when i am in ritual and i look at my sisters(new and old) and see what the founders meant when the sorority was founded in good old 1913. It's being abel to have people who are not blood kin, but share a bond that noone can break. it's the understnad without saying a word. It is, also, the values of the sorority that i try to live up to each day. It's being their for my sisters through the hard times and being able to laugh with them in the good times and understand eventhough we are all different we share a common bond that will never end. It's seeing the new members during initiation which is look at our future , but we see the past in the ritual. PhiSigma is a warm feeling, that warms you on the coldest days of life. Once a phi sigma sigma, Always a phi sigma sigma

What Phi Sig means to me... Part II
Phi Sig means Sisterhood. Being the only child, I haven't had the connection that other people experience with their siblings. I love how I can have this connection (or something like it) with some of the most wonderful women!
Phi Sig means Happiness. I know that if I'm feeling down, or just need to have a hug; my sisters are there for me. I know that when I go to our activities, we will have fun, despite anything going wrong.
Phi Sig means Love. I have learned to love others, and have been loved by others. Not only sisters, but everyone. Everyone from my friends and family, to the firefighters and police officers we made holiday cards for, to the people that will benefit from the money raised at the AIDS walk, to the students that enjoy the activities at school that we help out with, etc.
Phi Sig means so much, that I don't think I'll ever be able to write down all of it.

wanted to reactivate this thread because I think it's a great one.
What Phi Sig means to me.......hmmmm. It's so many things and its hard for me to put in to words but I will try.
First off it means friendship. I have met so many women I never would have met because we're in different majors, different ages, races, etc. I have developed friendship that will last a lifetime.
It means a bond throughout the world. Not just with other Phi Sigs but with other greeks as a whole. It's a pleasant feeling wearing my letters to Disneyland (or anywhere else) and an employee or another guest asking me where I go to school. And then they tell me I go to such and such and am a member of xyz. Being Greek creates a bond that non greeks may not understand.
It's a shoulder to cry on when you break up with your boyfriend (thanks for the shoulders sisters). It't the support system when a friend tragically dies and your sisters are there for you no questions asked.
Its shared laughter over another sister dropping a bowling ball on your foot (my toe still hurts). Or even more shared laughter over how some sisters seem to get lost going to the simplest place and ending up really far away and in the opposite direction. It's shared laughter while we're making t-shirts on bid day and sharing our wonderful organization with new sisters who are just beginning their journey into Phi Sigma Sigma.
Most importantly it's pride in being a part of the Best Sorority around!!!!!!!!!!!
(okay so it was easier to put in to words then I thought)

Well I never answered this one, so i'll give it a try now.
Phi Sigma Sigma means pride - in myself and what i've accomplished as well as the wonderful deeds of my sisters.
Phi Sigma Sigma means family - i'll always have a sister to talk to when I need to and no matter how far i go, i'll always be able to go back to them.
Phi Sigma Sigma means committment - to the org but also to each sister. I'll always be there for them, and they'll always be there for me.
Phi Sigma Sigma means unconditional love - this is a gift from many of my sisters, it is not an easy gift to give but I know they care for me no matter what I do, as well I love them, even when they get on my nerves!
So, that is what FSS means to me!

Finally!
Ill answer
Phi Sigma Sigma means the world to me. It is active, it is alumna, it is new friends and old friends, old traditions and new additions. Phi Sigma Sigma is a way if life, its not only for college its forever. I have found a home with my sisters, and even when I doubted my chapter greatly last semester, it found a way to make me belive again with this new class. I am really going to miss all of my chapter sisters when I leave but I know I will always have a Phi Sig somewhere who is willing to lend an ear!
This is just the tip of the iceberg, I cant find ways to describe what else it means to me!

Wow, as I look back at my reply to this question, I realize that I still feel the same as I did before! I am now an alumna of Phi Sigma Sigma (I graduated in May 2002) and I am still remaining pretty active. I have taken the position of Risk Management Advisor for a local chapter of Phi Sig and I love it completely. Phi Sigma Sigma will always be a huge part in my life. I never wish that I hadn't joined, and I always wish that I had done more than I did while I was active. I too have found a home within my sisters and the values that I have learned. I love my sisters to death!

Phi Sig Dartmouth MA
I think when asked what Phi Sigma Sigma means to me it is important to first take a look at all the different places the responses to this question have come from ...Phi Sigma Sigma is a never ending sisterhood between sisters near and far. It's knowing that you could be walking down the street, and randomly run into someone wearing letters and that they will understand a major part of your life without even so much as having to speak a word. I love my sisters!!! Phi Sigma Sigma helps to shape you into becoming a woman, and allows you to be apart of a group while at the same time allows and encourages you to be an individual
