				 Flip Cup

So one of the fraternities on campus is going to have a flip cup contest for the sororities (flip cup being a drinking game for those of you who aren't familiar). I don't know any of the details or anything about it...... but I read one of my little's away messages. It was saying all the things she had to do today. Among them: flip cup TRYOUTS!
OK girls, i know we're competitive and all, but TRYOUTS for a flipcup tournament??????

This is by far my favorite drinking game! I can understand the need for tryouts...you don't wanna have someone on your team who needs like 10 tries to get the cup flipped! You also don't wanna a girl on your team who doesn't chug the beer but instead drinks it nice and girlie like! You need the true, hardcore, flip-cup player!!!!! The same applies for the guys. Sometimes people just flat out suck at this game, even though you think they'd do better. Anyway, have a good time and good luck! |

Can someone explain how flip cups is played? Sounds familiar, but i may have known it under another name back in my wild college days...

Okay, you have 2 teams of like 5 people. Each person has a cup half full or whatever of beer (each person's cup must be filled to the same level). The teams are on opposite sides of a table. someone yells go or start. Person 1 from each team chugs the beer and then puts their cup upside down on the edge of the table. They then try flip the cup right-side up. Once this has occurred, person number 2 does the same thing and so on. Team that does all this first wins!!

(We sometimes put in extra rules, but these are the basic principles).

The game has also been known as Turbo Cups.

OK... that's why it was so familiar... we knew it as 'Boat Races'; over at Yale they have a similar drinking game called 'Tang'.
No finesse is needed for this game... simply the ability to open your throat and down massive quantities of beer without snarfing!

we had a flip cup nazi in our chapter who has since graduated. not only did we have tryouts, but you were replaced the second that you took more than 2 tries to actually flip the cup over. we still won't let people play if they take that long to flip the cup[ over. most of my sisters never take more than one or 2 tries. it's no wonder we've lost a total of 5 rounds of flipcup since homecoming 2001.

I'm confused do you just put the cup down and then turn it over? Are you limited in some sort of way that makes it difficult to flip it over? Cause if you're just chugging one beer, it better be the first time every time.

Boat Races. Line up in a row, chug, flip cup on top of your head, next person chugs, etc. First team finished wins!

You chug the beer, put the cup on the end of the table (upside-down), and you have to use your fingers to flip the cup over. Let me try to explain better:
cup is hanging over the edge of the table
you place your middle, index, and ring finger (or whatever you can do best with) palm side up
you then try to flip the cup over so it's standing

I hope this clears the game up for you!

but yeah, since girls nver make any sense, try outs are logical
