Bought my first pair of cowboy boots today...

And they are GREAT! I love the way they fit, and my girfriend says that they give me a certain swagger when I walk that she likes! Hey guys, do any of you like to wear boots, and ladies, do you like to see guys in boots? Here in Northern California, not too many guys wear boots (it's all about the Birkenstocks!), so when I went out, people noticed them. It was really cool. I am not going "full western", so no hat or Wranglers, but occasionally I will be wearing the boots.

AH..... there's nothing like a man in Cowboy boots! But don't discard the idea of Wranglers completely. If you do get them, make sure they're damn tight!

this is a timely thread for me.....

the new guy in my life owns 2 pair of cowboy boots, and i'm not quite sure what I think of them... To be perfectly fair, I haven't seen him in them. He dresses quite well in general, so I do trust his taste (he's about the only guy I think I would ever trust to buy me clothes and me actually like them!). But this is Pittsburgh.......... I guess I have to cut him some slack b/c he went to Vanderbilt......

But still. I think i'm just bothered by the idea for some reason. Guess i'm too much of a city girl

OK, I said it before, and I'll say it again, and pay attention, boots, esp. redwings, are perfectly acceptable footwear IN THE CITY. While I agree that it could be a bit strange in Pittsburg, they are not just for the 'country.' You'd be suprised at how may pairs of Boots and Khakis you see in any city in the south. You certainly wouldnt wear Khakis on a farm, so if they are wearing them in the city, it's a pretty common practice down here.

But baby, thats only one kind of cowboy look. And the shirts withthe snaps, please, thats Madonna Western, or my grandfather.

Theres about 500 different ways to dress "regional" down here in the south or 'country'. I have been at parties where a guy was in 501's, a wife beater and had a cowboy hat on, that was considered Country. Or tight Wranglers and a starched shirt. Or theres a pair of 20X jeans or Cinch with a knit pullover polo, and thats 'cowboy'. Finally, most all guys down here aged 20-40 get their khakis laundered at the dry cleaners and ask for extra heavy starch, along with any buttondown shirt with heavy starch also is considered "cowboy" (Of course the common factor is some type of boot). I was at a party a few months back, wearing a pair of heavily starched Bannana Republic Hacking Chinos (khaki color) and a buttondown polo, with heavy starch, a belt from Bannana and my redwings and most would have considered I was dressed, "country". I didnt have a hat on tho. My brother Ryan always wears one of those Madonna western shirts withthe snaps and his abercrombie shorts. Its a very popular look here. I wouldnt consider it "cowboy" at all. Sometimes I'll put on the wranger shirt unbottoned over a teeshirt and 501's, because the shirt is warm as hell. People wouldnt hink I was country. Damn near half my undergraduate chapter has carhart jackets. Many would consider them "country" jackets, but when you see whos wearing them and how, you wouldnt call them country. Its a very subjective thing, with many different styles and looks.

pant, pant, pant

My cousin's husband, Ryan, was in Fla. at the same time as I was back in Feb for my uncle's funeral (his wife's step-father). Ryan and his wife live in Colorado. He has some native american roots...great loooong black hair too that he keeps very neat. Not only was Ryan the only man at the funeral in a full suit he also wore his cowboy boots!! It looked so good. They were just basic black from what I could tell but they looked really good. I know it sounds funny, cowboy boots at a funeral in Florida but he really did look good! Nice mix of classy and spunk.

lest ye forget lived in the southwest for 7 years..i've seen more then my fair share of cowboys, and yes even the ones that really ride bulls and whatever it is that cowboys do these days...still does nothing for me..i think that cowboy boots are pretty ugly...but listen, thats just my opinion..to each their own...(no disrespect to any of you guys that own and wear them with pride)

and for the record, i've seen many younger cowboys wearing not only snap shirts..but some BEYOND ugly wrangler shirts..ugly does not describe them

I like guys in boots, but pretty much only engineer boots, Doc Martens, and Tims. I don't get the whole 'western' thing, but I'm sure they look good on you!

Thumbs down

Have had a pair of caboy boots for 25 years and still look new! Gathering dust in the closet!

When you have Duck feet, they dont fit into the pointed toes!

Now what I like is to see a women in spiked heels!!!

Not cagirl boots either! Hell the reason guys swager with boots on is they hurt so damn much! Guy thing, they just grin and bear it! Not Bare it!
