Greek Involvement with *Dance Marathon*
Hey everybody...I am applying to be on the Dance Marathon Executive Board at UCF and was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas to get the Greeks more involved than they already are with Dance Marathon. I know pretty much every school has a DM so I am guessing it needs no description; however I am going for Greek Campus Liaison and need all the help I can get! The greeks are already SUPER involved in DM, as we all know...but any fun ideas as to what your school and your greek community does would be awesome! Have a great day guys!

I just interviewed tonight for DM exec! We actually have the REVERSE problem at USC... Everyone who participates is greek with maybe a handful of exceptions. We keep saying that we want to change this, but how exactly do you?

OMG!
Dance Marathon is my passion!!! I was a dancer in 2001 at UNC and I served at Event Management Chair for UNCG 2002-03. Our Marathon was April 5-6 and it was a success. This is only G's 3rd year and to date we've raised over $36,000 which isn't too bad.
I'm not greek so I have no idea as to how more greeks can get involved. However, I just have to say my CoChair is a TriSigma and she is the greatest! Most of our participants were Kappa Delta Rhos, Tri Sigmas, and Phi Mus. Can't wait to serve on the board next year!
Edited to say that there were a few KDPis, Xi Omegas, and SigEps as participants. The SigEps had a fundraising volleyball tournament and gave proceeds to us. And the CPH had a greek talent show in which all proceeds went to us as well.

HEY! I was at that Dance Marathon! What's your name... I can't remember what the Events Coordinator does! I'm a Phi Mu...
And just to brag, Phi Mus raised the MOST money, and had the MOST participants But since it's our national philanthropy, it's something we feel very strongly about. It was my first time doing the marathon, and I was actually pretty surprised with the turnout. There were lots of Phi Mus, and the Sigmas definitely came out and represented... but there could have been plenty more Greeks and non-Greeks out there! I am excited for next year to raise even more money!

Heeeeey! Spartan pride Event Management worked year long to find bands, dance teams, singers, etc. for entertainment. We also had to find suitable music during down times. That was tough but I think our best band was "Gravity" because they played a lot of cover music that everyone knew. I was the black girl with the little fro' and glasses on the core committee! Toward the last 3-4 hours, I was the cranky, moody black girl with a little fro' and glasses. lol
Yeah, and I have to say Phi Mu represented! Kim H. was on the core too for family relations chair and she was excellent.

DM-FIU
Well this past DM, DM 2003, FIU had a great turnout especially for a growing event. I have been a moraler for the past 3 years and I've seen the event grow! (2001=40k, 2002=88k, 2003=100k). I did apply for a position for DM 2004, but interviews haven't been set yet. I'm rrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll llyyyyyyyy looking forward to it. I think it's a great cause. Here's the DM 2003 website. http://www.fiu.edu/~dm

go to www.thon.org for some info about penn state's dance marathon. we're the largest student run philanthropy in the world, and this past year we raised over $3.6 million for the four diamonds fund at hershey medical center. get in contact with the overall and they can give you some good pointers!
