Position Announcement—Director of Communications
Alpha Gamma Delta announces the opening of the Director of Communications position at International Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Director of Communications directs and manages all aspects of communications and public relations for Alpha Gamma Delta ensuring that all established standards of look and content are met
Primary Responsibilities:
§ Participate in strategic planning and then develop, implement and manage completion of projects related to internal/external communications and public relations initiatives identified during strategic planning.
§ Direct and participate in the creation and production of the Quarterly including article development, research, writing, editing, proofreading and design.
§ Work with IHQ staff to develop and distribute information to various member constituencies through a variety of distribution channels including the Alpha Gamma Delta website and other electronic channels as well as through more traditional means.
§ Direct the development, publishing and periodic updating of all Fraternity handbooks, manuals and guides.
§ Direct the development and production of materials for specific projects—e.g. convention, Extension, training meetings, etc.
§ Develop and manage project budgets.
§ Directs and supervises Communications Department staff.
§ Represents Alpha Gamma Delta through active participation in the College Fraternity Editors Association and the National Panhellenic Editors Conference.
§ Develop and maintain relationships with all vendors for products and services used by the Communications Department, including contract negotiations. Completes and coordinates all requests related to layout and design.
§ Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Communication Department staff
Job Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Qualifications:
§ B.A. degree in journalism or related field and 3-5 years professional experience in corporate communications or public relations.
§ Demonstrated ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
§ Solid working knowledge of publication software and production a plus.
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
§ Ability to provide professional direction, guidance and counsel to staff members.
§ Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long-term goals.
§ Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements.
