House Corps. / Alumni Assoc.
As an active alumni in my chapter, I am sitting on our House Corp. board (legally registered with the state, has officers, budget, board members...etc). We are tossing around the idea of having a legal "Alumni Association", also to be registered with the state, with officers, board members, a budget...etc. Currently, we have a House Corp. which basically acts as an Alumni Association, however, our basic goal for the House Corp. is only that: a house.
That being said, do any of you serve on a House Corp. board, or and Alumni Association board? If so, do you have both a House Corp. and an Alumni Association, or just one? If you have both, how do they interact with each other, or do they stay completely seperate? (EX, House Corp. focuses solely on the house and nothing more, and the Alumn. Assoc. focuses on everything else - Alumni Outings, Scholarships, memorial donations...etc.)
What are your thoughts for my situation? Do we create another entity as we grow, or stay the same?
Any info. would be helpful.

I serve on the House corporation board for my collegiate chapter and served for 4 years as President of my alumnae chapter but I think Gamma Phi deals with these two groups separately than what you're meaning.
Our alumnae chapters are not registered with the state in the same way that our House Corps are. Yes, our alumnae chapters have officers, budgets, events, etc but we're non profits too and our house corps aren't.
The two groups are completely separate and not all of the House Corp people are involved with the alumnae chapter. But, our HCB serves a specific college chapter and our alumnae chapter serves a large geographic area with alumnae from many different collegiate chapters.

Re: House Corps. / Alumni Assoc.
I am President of our local Corporation Board, and am working to reorganize (or recharter) our local Alumnae Chapter. Both are completely separate entities in Alpha Omicron Pi. Our alumnae chapters are city or area-wide groups, where the Corp Board handles the chapter house operations and physical property ownership. We too are Incorporated with the state, have an official budget and officers, and are required to announce and hold an annual meeting like any other Corporation. We also have a third area where local alumnae can get involved, the Alumnae Advisory Committee, who works on a day-to-day basis with the local chapter and her officers. It is not a requirement to be an alumna of the local chapter to serve on CB or AAC. AOII does not have "XYZ Chapter Alumnae Associations" or anything like that.
The goal is to have a mutually supportive relationship between collegiate chapter, AAC, CB and the alumnae chapter. The CB does not provide social opportunities as a rule. The alumnae chapter itself is not usually involved with CB operation, but all members are welcome (and encouraged!) to join the CB and attend the annual meeting. The alumnae chapter is there to encourage continued involvement as an alumna, and provide opportunities to make new friendships and renew old ones. The alumnae chapter supports it's nearest collegiate chapter(s) in various ways, but do not oversee the house or property of any collegiate chapter it may work with.
You may want to check your National/International Governing Documents for information appropriate for your situation. There may be something that specifically outlines the duties and responsibilities of a House Corp Board and an Alumni Association for your GLO. Hope this helps!

Our grops are one int he same. I serve as Secretary of both groups. Our plan is ultimately to seperate the groups when housing is an actual issue for our undergrads. Right now the Alumni assn is a city wide group, and there are 2 undergrad chapters in our city. Each chapter has an advisor, which has a vote and a directorship on our board.
