To convention goers...
Sandy, Kate and others going to convention,
Have a great time, learn alot and meet alot of people. I wish I could go. I would go with a sister from here in town, but its awfully expencive. Though, for us Atlanta would only be a 2 hr. drive.
Anyway, keep us all posted on convention.
Sandy, Wow, you've got a long trip ahead of you! Have a safe trip. Lisa

You ladies will have so much FUN! I went to Convention in Scottsdale back in 1995 (?) and it was an experience I will never forget. Enjoy yourselves and tell us all about it when you get back!

Lisa, thank you for your kind words! I'll take lots and lots of pictures!
It'll be a 7 hour flight to Houston and an additional 2 hour flight to Atlanta...but my sisters and I can't wait!!!
We've spent weeks in preparation for the costume dinner. We've also met at least twice a week to discuss who's bringing what...what we should give the big squirrels, etc.
For those going: how many ladies will be representing your chapter/alumnae chapter/club at Convention? We have 4 collegians, 1 alumna, and our Leadership Advisor Ronda. Ronda will be at home in Alabama and she'll be meeting us there.
Kate, Jenny, Megan, Nina, and those also going to Convention--I can't wait to meet you all!

Well, for us, there will be 3 at Convention. The Chapter President, the President of the Alumnae Chapter, and myself, Chapter Advisor. So how in the world are we going to meet up? Do they have a message board like they do at TLC? If so, we can send messages to each other as to times we can meet up and rooms we are staying in. Kate

To all the girls who are going to be at Convention-we have to figure out a way to meet each other! I'm so excited to put faces with names!! We'll have to take a Greek Chat AGD picture and post it!
I wish everyone could go! I'm sure it's going to be amazing! I have my costume figured out...it's a really good idea(not mine, but thanks to the person who gave it to me...you know who you are...but I'm not creative, so we'll see how it turns out).
I can't wait!! Only 14 days left!
For our sisters who aren't going, I'll write a LONG post when I get back for you guys!

Niiiiiiiina...you're so right there! I can't believe you won't be able to go! I'll be sure to say hi to Bonnie...
We arrive in Atlanta at around 10:30 in the morning...and will probably arrive at the hotel around 11:30ish or so. From what I understand presidents have to go through their different checks so we'll have some free time from around noon till the Costume dinner. I know we're all encouraged to mingle and sit with others not from your delegation...so maybe that's something we could do for one of the luncheons or something.
We'll probably launch our new website sometime after we get back from Convention, but I'll try to find a way to get em to post up here!
I have to worry about a final paper and two finals before I can start looking forward to Convention!
It's almost here, ladies!

I'm sorta "right there"...I go to school about 4 hours from Atlanta, my school is about 20 miles from the Fla Border! If I were home, I'd be about 45 mins away from Atlanta. I wish I could stop by to at least buy something LOL I bet they have tons of nice stuff. I got a chapter mass email from one of the sisters (don't you love mass email lol) that had info about a charm bracelet that you could order for convention. Did you guys get to see it? if you didn't, let me know, I'll forward to you guys. :0)

Hey Nina, I haven't seen the charm bracelet yet...so if you could forward it to me, that'd be great!

I'm wondering if any of you girls are participating in the "Convention Tourism Package" (the tours of Stone Mountain Park, Lenox Mall fireworks, World of Coke, Atlanta History Center)
I hope IHQ is making profit for the foundation with these tours because I know for a FACT that these tours are way overpriced!
***Stone Mtn park tour- $80 with AGD, regularly about $7-10 (including parking)
***Fireworks at Lenox Mall- $73 with AGD, regularly FREE! But I suppose you are going to get a boxed dinner...and the shopping you'll probably do will probably easily exceed $73! There are nice stores there
***World of Coke/Tour of Atlanta- $25 with AGD...Since it's a "formal tour" I guess I can't put a direct dollar amount on it, but if I were to see the same things, (passing "landmarks" , only dropping my the Coke museum) would cost me about $15
***Atlanta History Center - $30 with AGD ...$12 is the admission ($10 is regular admission + $2 for extras like the the mansion tour, which by the way is being renovated and fairly empty...and a tour of a farm)
I "ain't" bitchin, but I hope AGD profits from it (and not people who's arranged all this!) Just thought it was interesting from an Atlantian pt of view

I know that the tours were being processed through the hotel's activities' desk, so I don't know if IHQ's gonna make money off of it.
No one from my delegation signed up to go on the tours because we had a feeling that they were overpriced! However, we're staying an extra day after the Convention's over to go sightseeing on our own. We don't leave until Monday morning. Nina, if you have any suggestions on where to go, what to see, where to eat and hang out at night...that would be fabulous!

Sandy,
It really depends on what you want to do...when I head off to Atlanta, I shop or go somewhere "special" to eat.
Ala Moana is an awesome mall and in my opinion a better mall, but Lenox Mall is awesome. I would at least take a spin around to see how different the Atlanta shopping scene is Across the street is Phipps Plaza, it's a very upscale mall- with speciality shops.
The Cheesecake Factory is an awesome resturant...has normal "american" food plus every kind of cheesecake known to man! It's a popular place. It's in Buckhead, around Lenox. (more ritzy part of Atlanta...full of clubs, "yuppie" hangouts)
Atlanta also has it's Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood- they're across the street from each other in midtown!
"Underground Atlanta" is a place in midtown with shops and places to eat. Pretty interesting. Around it is Centenial Olympic Park. Close by is the Coke Museum.

Hey Conventioneers:
Only a week and a day left before we all meet up! I was curious as to how you folks are doing with your costumes for the Costume dinner. We meet two more times to discuss Convention stuff before we all head out to Atlanta!
I arrive at 10:30 AM but probably won't get to the hotel until some time after that. When do you folks get in? We should definitely meet up together during our free time.
Did anyone else sign up to be a Convention volunteer? I signed up to help out with Ritual, and I got an email from DeeDee Evans about the meeting on Thursday...which might make it difficult for me to meet with my delegation to practice for the dinner. Man, I wish I could tell you girls what we're doing but I'm sworn to secrecy!
I also might need one of you to help me tape some parts of the dinner (especially when it's our turn to go up)!
T minus 8 days and counting...I can't wait!
