Question Interested in Rushing AGD

Hi! I'm rushing this fall at the University of Kentucky, and i have a strong interest in the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter here.I've been to the national website as well as the chapter site here, but i still have a few unanswered questions. I was wondering what Alpha Gamma Delta looks for in rushees, if a recommendation is required to pledge, and what kinds of questions active members ask rushees. I thank everyone who replies

Congratulations on your graduation! You have a wonderful experience ahead of you.
As for your question, Alpha Gamma Delta is looking for young women who are being themselves! Your unique personality should shine through--don't try to be someone you're not in order to impress. I've always thought that genuineness will get you far. If you're a fit with the chapter both you and they will know it!
Of course, it never hurts to have a good GPA and interesting extracurricular activities. But, remember, just be yourself!
Good luck with rush. I am so pleased that you are interested in Alpha Gamma Delta. Keep in mind, however, that all sororities have something very special to offer--so keep your options open.
But, I hope that we can call you a sister soon!

Congratulations on your desire to rush at the University of Kentucky!

To add on to greeklawgirl's post, I believe that confidence plays an important role at Recruitment events. At some campuses, Recruitment events can be tough, but if a rushee can overcome that and still be comfortable with her surroundings, then the sisters will be able to see it. I know that's true in my chapter. If a rushee also exhibits a desire to extend herself in an effort to contribute to our Fraternity, then that's also a plus!

Not all AGD chapters require recommendations, so your best bet would be to email the AGD chapter. If you find out that recommendations are strongly suggested, then maybe one of us can help you out!

BTW, have you already downloaded and filled out the Panhellenic Recruitment Application? I checked out the UKY Greek Affairs website and the deadline's somewhere in August. Remember to read all their rules and policies carefully!

According to the UKY site, though their Panhellenic doesn't have a required minimum GPA, that may not be the case with the sororities. The fact sheet stated that UKY AGD's minimum HS GPA was 3.2

Now, this is my personal opinion... I've seen girls who looked *STELLAR* on paper (ie. outstanding GPA, lists of community service & extra curriculars), but in person they weren't all that. Then I've seen girls who barely met the minimum GPA and had an okay resume...and I absolutely loved them at recruitment. I feel that it's a balance of both that helps you have a successful rush!

Also, don't be afraid of doing some of the question-asking at the events!

Good luck with rush and remember to keep us posted!

Spoiledangel, I am wondering where you are from...
The University of KY has a wonderful greek life (I have a lot of friends there that are AGDs). What do they look for? Well I would have to say you need to be yourself first off. You don't have to have a rec for AGD at UK but if you can get one that would help you tremendously. It really can boost you in the eyes of the sisters. Do you know any Alpha Gams from KY already? Ask them to write a rec for you. If you know anyone from your hometown that is an ALpha Gam there that may know you that helps a lot too. Good luck and feel free to email me (I am at the WKU chapter). Sarah
