Cool Greek Week karaoke
OK, so we are in the midst of Greek Week here at the College of Charleston, and tonight is the karaoke contest. Each sorority and fraternity get to perform one song for the competition. We are judged on vocal performance, costumes, dance, overall performance, and crowd appeal. We draw songs from a hat. Well, ours is "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" by Offspring.

About an hour and a half ago, the girl in charge for my chapter calls me and says that no one knows the words, and since I am the resident karaoke junkie, will I do it?? So yes, I get to dress up like a thug wannabe and perform. All for Zeta - my sisters better buy me a shot tonight for doing this!!!

So wish me luck, and I will let y'all know how it goes!

Hey that sounds like fun! *L* We have Greek Week next week but we do lip sync, and compete against 9 frats and 4 other sororities...but karaoke actually sounds fun too! *L* Good luck with that.

Heh, good luck! You would never get me up in front of a group of people doing karaoke all by myself...maybe with a group of my sisters though...

OK, so the contest was last night, and it was awesome!! The best Greek Week event so far! Unfortunately, they're not announcing the winners until this afternoon when they announce the winners for the whole week. But may I just say that Zeta tore it up! We dressed like complete thugs (if that's possible for us exceedingly white girls!), and some of my sisters made up this dance they did while I sang. It was awesome, and we had a large cheering section. IMHO, it's in the bag!!

Here's what the other orgs did:
Chi O: "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi (who I am going to see in concert this weekend!! ) They were really good, I feel our only competition!
ADPi: "Bye Bye Bye" by N Sync
Phi MU: "Be My Lover"
Theta: "I Will Survive"
Tri-Delta: "You Are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson. I felt bad for them - what a terrible song to get!
KD: "Love Shack" - always a classic
Pi Kapp: "I Saw the Sign" by Ace of Base - Hilarious!! They had a wooden sign that said "The Sign" on it, and then they took out a saw and sawed it in half - get it, "I saw the sign."
Pike: "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael
Sig Epp: "Brown-Eyed Girl" - They wore dresses...I think they were pledges and didn't have much of a choice!

OK, now my mind is going blank and I can't remember what the other fraternities did...
But as soon as they announce the winners, I'll let y'all know!

Dianne~How'd y'all do? Overall and in karaoke? We start on monday *yea* and then have Sigma Chi Derby Days the week after...man this will be an interesting two week!

Ugh!! So today was field day and the last day of Greek Week. I left to go out of town at like 3 pm. But I was talking to one of my sisters on IM, and not only did they not announce the karaoke winners, but not the winners for the week either. Apparently they need time to tally the scores (BTW, our IFC exec sucks...but that's a whole other story). So they're announcing the winner of karaoke AND Greek Week Wednesday night at the Panhellenic meeting. Of course, I work during the meeting time... But I'll keep y'all updated. Thanks for all the well wishes!!

Dianne~

Why am I not surprised to hear that my sisters would go out and have a total blast like that!!! I know that we do it all the time up here at ODU!!! We love to be the center of attention! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Our Greek Week starts tomorrow with a Lip Synch competition at 1 pm. Although I am supposed to participate, there have been no practices. I think we can handle it. We are paired up Sig Ep and Omega Psi Phi.

OK, so the results are FINALLY in! Not only did we win karaoke, but we won all of Greek Week!!! YAY!! Go Zeta!!

And on an even more satisfying note, our rival (who wins like every year) got second place, and they are PISSED.
