Found this...

http://onesun.cc.geneseo.edu/~aopi/

I don't think there are any real similarities besides the fact that they call themselves AOPi.

I remember seeing that before and thinking it strange Too bad they don't have a local history or symbols on their page, I'd love to learn about them!

Here is a link to the history of the Greek system at the campus.

http://www.geneseo.edu/~igc/history.html

Apparently they formed as a local in 1985. According to the history there were a lot of locals and then the campus lifted a ban on nationals in 1976. But they also say since then a lot of groups have dropped their nationals or lost charters. Makes you wonder why... Looks like the campus is primarily locals.

Let's just hope they don't sign up for Sorority Life 4 - Think of the PR nightmare that could be if they are represented as "AOPi"!

How is it that they can call themselves "AOPi" don't we have that trademarked or something?

I know that 'Alpha Omicron Pi' is trademarked/copyrighted, but I don't know about 'A O Pi' as a nickname.

It's certainly strange, isn't it?

I brought this topic up this past summer because I actually met some girls that attend that school. When asked what house I was in, I said AOII...she replied, "Alpha Omega Pi?" So, I looked up the site to see what was going on. I emailed our advisor and asked her about the fact that they were calling themselves "AOPi's." She told me that Alpha Omicron Pi DOES have trademark over AOII, but not AOPi, which the chapter in New York uses. Just thought I would throw that in there!
