We were told that we had to have 25 members. (We started with 10.) Actually, we had a very successful rush and wound up with 22 members, and we received our charter even though we were 3 people shy.

We put together a major fundraising event and contributed some of the proceeds to AEPhi's philanthropies. (The rest of the proceeds went to our local philanthropy.) I don't recall if this was formally a requirement... I think it was.

Obviously, we had to complete the new member program.

In order to charter the colony (which must begin with at least 10) had to have a total of 15 members.

FIJI's is ambitious..

We were:

Above all-men's average in:
Grades,
Membership,
Philanthropy,
Intramurals.

We had to have constitution & bylaws..

Put together a petition -- it was about 4" thick.

Took us 3 years to get there but would do it again.

Arrow Phi Beta's requirements

  • Obtain a "Letter of Verification" from the Director of Student Activities giving Phi Beta permission to colonize on your campus.
  • Establish your colony's first three officers: Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer and Fraternal Education Officer. A minimum of 10 qualified students is required for a charter
  • Become familiar with basic Phi Beta information. (A sort of new member period)
  • Write your chapter's bylaws.
  • Hold a fund-raiser to establish your chapter's funds.
  • Obtain campus recognition.
  • Students must be at least second semester freshmen since a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
