Lightbulb Car Bash

Hey guys-

I have heard that some chapters have done car bashes in the past and we here at Arizona State think it is a great idea and would like to do one in April right before finals as a way to relieve stress. I was wondering if any of you out there have any experience in this and have any pointers on what to watch out for, how do deal with the whole risk management issue, where to get the cars from, etc. Any info would be helpful.

In ZAX,

We did a car smash for homecoming in 1996 at Shippensburg, 3 dollars for 5 hits and made like 4 some dollars off an entire homecoming football crowd. Now keep in mind this was to raise money for charity (cancer i think).

Anyway we couldnt even cover our costs and kept all the money for ourselves, the tow guy who volunteered to tow the wreck off campus "forgot" to show up and one of the kids from the dorms torched it and caused a huge fire of campus.

That kid later associated and was named brother of the year in 1999 as a senior.

we got the car from a kid who wrecked it in the parking lot of our old house.

Never did it again, but got a nice promo shot with the prez of the univeristy with a sledghammer

Thumbs up

O M G Jas, only ap ShippysB!

We talked about doing it but like you said got cabashed up and did not do it!

Hell sounded good as was going to be in the middle of the Oval of Campus! The Oval is a walk way that runs in teh center of the Campus from way back so students could get to the Class Buildings!

Back in the Days, the Brothers would Streak the oval! Was down one time and some of the then actives asked me about it!

I told them about it and they thought it would be fun to do it like old times! If I would go, so would they!!! They Streaked it, I strolled it with a New ASSoc. carrying my BVDS!

Flat told them if the COPs came run like hell and I would try to hide in the bushes! Thank God the Cops did not show!

Jason -

I forgot all about the car smash!! What's that expression about the road to hell? It did seem like a really good idea at the time.

Then again, there was Jager flowing pretty freely at Homecoming '99. Joey P getting carted away in the bed of a pickup after getting thrown out of the bar by 11:00am, Caffeine in the basement...

Good times

Whoops! Homecoming '96, not '99.

Different set of anectdotes. Sorry.

For any of you who don't know -- Brother Lennox is a really REALLY great pen and ink artist, and has designed most of Phi Tau's shirts since his initiation into the Fraternity. I saw an undergrad wearing one of Jason's '95 Greek Week shirts in a bar the other night, and it has really stood the test of time. I don't know his commission schedule, but you may want to ask of his services if you want a unique, high quality shirt for all other GLO's to envy.

how much would it cost to get a car to bash? I think that it would be a great fundraising idea and as some said before a stress reliever.
