How did you all survive it?
Guys, I think I'm going crazy. I was hoping to enjoy my last semester of college, but it's turning out to be the hardest one ever...and my chapter has TONS of activities planned for this semester. With 20 hours of classes and work every Friday in my hometown, there isn't much time to spare and when I do have free time, I prefer to spend it with my family and my boyfriend, whom I won't see for a long time after this month. I'm afraid I won't be seeing them much, though, because for the second weekend in a row my chapter has mandatory things planned for Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday. Oh, my God. I just want to blow everything off, but I can't afford to pay $100+ in fines. Don't get me wrong, I love my chapter, but my family has always been more important and there's just not time to accommodate everyone. Have any of you all ever been this frazzled, and if you have, please tell me how on earth you survived it!

Wow, your chapter keeps you pretty busy - friday, saturday AND sunday???
In my chapter each sister was allowed three excused absences from mandatory events per semester; do you guys have anything like that?
I'm sorry your last semester has you so frazzled Don't give up, though. You have many, many years ahead of you as an alumna and you'll be so glad you stuck it out
DKZ,
Tracy

Oh, wow, that's a great idea! Unfortunately, we don't have anything like that...we can write excuses that have to be turned in several weeks in advance, but going to see family will not get you excused--it has to be something better than that. My chapter is really tightening up this semester, so I'm told, on attendance at mandatory events and the fines are going to increase, so we're pretty much going in the opposite direction. I might put that in the suggestion box, though...

I took 5th year alum status last year. I was student teaching, planning my wedding, packing for a move, applying for a job. If you cannot go 5th year, you should at least be excused for classes that conflict with activities as well as activities related to your major (for me, it was concerts and other performances since I majored in music...it may be different for you). Other than that, try to enjoy yourself! This semester will speed by SO FAST, you won't even realize it's over until you are standing there in your cap and gown with an armful of flowers taking pictures with your family!!!!!
