Men Cry in the Dark: The Play
This past weekend, along with Soror #1Leading Lady and Beauty08, I went to see Men Cry in the Dark starring ALLEN PAYNE (G-Money and Lance and Jason), Christopher Williams, Monifah, and Rhona Bennett.
The play was TERRIFIC!! Outstanding!! All that!! 2 snaps and a circle.
The play is based on the book by Michael Baisden. Read it first and then see the play.
FYI: Allen Payne was topless in one scene and I almost fainted.
The play's info can be found here: http://www.michaelbaisden.com/stage_play.htm

Re: Men Cry in the Dark: The Play
Hey CT4! Hope you don't mind me posting on your board!
I also went to see the play Men Cry in the Dark a couple of months ago! I thought it was great. I wish it could have been longer so they could have gone more into depth with the other characters.
Girl I know what you mean about Allen Payne. I was like Lawd Jesus when he took his shirt off!
Now that is definitely someone who could make me just pass out for real!!
Just want to take him in a back room and .....let me stop!

Re: Put YO hands where I can see
Aw dang...I get burnt like that!
Girl you got me at my desk cracking up!
Girl but you aren't lying about them singing! That song with Monifa and the guy (I'm assuming Marcus Cole) was off the chain!
They were all doing their thing!
What was the comedian's name who played big Ben? OMG! He was hilarious!!!

Re: Re: Put YO hands where I can see
LaVell Crawford (Bug Eyes) was the comedian.
I don't remember Monifah dueting with Marcus but I do remember her and Christopher Williams.
When Pretty Tony (Christopher Williams) proposed to Monifah, that song gave me chills.

Ok, LaVell Crawford was hilarious!
And it was a duet with Monifah and Chris Williams....that's the one I was talking about. When he proposed to her was the best. Almost had me in tears...
And didn't Marcus sing a song by himself? I think that's what I was thinking about. He tore it up!

I read the book. It was definitely off the hook. When it hits the area, I'll have to be sure to check out the play since you all are giving it such rave reviews.

Yeah his song was the one that convicted ALLEN PAYNE'S character to GET UP out of his drunken stupor. That song had me ready to get up. LOL.
Soror Baby Girl, it is coming to MD area soon. Go to Website for dates and details.

Yeah that girl was his fiancee. I saw the ring, no BOBBY BROWN 7 KT. diamond more like Richard Brown, the neighborhood gas station attendant. she looked in her 20s.

It's BACK ON THE ROAD
The musical stage version of Michael Baisden's hit novel about four friends from the South Side of Chicago.
Men Cry in the Dark is an exhilarating, hilarious and spiritually uplifting musical drama that transcends the only known barrier left to man. This dazzling, spectacular play gives an unparalleled insight into dating, family devotion and most importantly relationships.
Many do not know that beneath the rough and stoic texture of the Black man, there has always resided a sensitive and passionate side that few women have ever been privileged to experience. It is a secret region that men still regard as their last frontier-the un-chartered territory where women are forbidden to tread.
Back by popular demand, Men Cry In The Dark will tour again
beginning in September 2002.
First stop will be Houston, Texas starting September 10 and
running thru September 15.
Location in Houston will be the Verizon Theatre (formerly Aerial Theatre).
Additional cities that Men Cry In The Dark will appear are:
Oakland, CA
Washington, DC
New York, NY
