Unhappy All Dogs go to Heaven

Hi all,

I have some incredibly sad news to share. My beloved dog of 13.5 years had to be put down today. Knight was a Rhodesian Ridgeback and he was very smart, fiercely loyal, and wonderfully loving. Sadly, he had developed a tumor in the bone of his right leg which caused it to break. The Vet said that, due to his age, a reparative operation just wasn't possible. He had been ill for a couple months now and this turn of events was no surprise. Even then, the Vet commented that he himself had two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and that "old" for this breed was 9-10 years.

I moved here to England back in July. The day before my flight, I went home to have dinner with my family. Because I would be away in England for over a year, I asked my father to take my picture with Knight - even then I suspected that I would not see my puppy dog again. I feel fortunate that I had the foresight to say my goodbye to him that day.

I'm not sure what the Lord's policy on pets is; but if he's got a doggy door on the pearly gates, my Knight is now at my mother's side to be her loyal companion for eternity.

Today I implore you give your dogs and cats a big hug. Our pets give us so much - they deserve to be very loved.

.....Kelly

I'm sooo sorry sweetie. I totally understand how you feel... I lost one of my dogs my senior year in high school- very difficult... if you need to talk or anything, let me know... I think one reason why it hurts so much when pets die is that all they do is love you unconditionally...

Kelly, I am so sorry about your dog. You have me crying over the cats right now.

I truly belive pets go to heaven. If they don't, then I don't want to go there.

Oh, sweetie, I am SO sorry!!!!

I know how you feel because I've been through it twice, with two dogs. PM or email me if you ever want to talk about it. It really is losing a member of your family, and there is nothing in the world like the love we share with animals.

I love my cats more than anything in the world. I'm going to give each of them a big hug and kiss.

From one dog lover to another I am sorry to hear about your loss! I can't immagine what it would be like to have to put a dog to sleep.
I hope you'll be able to find a new companion someday!

Hi guys... as sad as this is, I'm hoping you all can add one more pet to your prayers... Just got off the phone with my parents and my dog died tonight Came as a big shock seeing as how he was perfectly healthy (we thought) and happy just a few days ago... I feel bad not being able to be there for my family (I go to school about 500 miles away)... I truely do believe all dogs go to heaven, and that they're all together now

A friend of mine gave me this poem when we put down my first dog Rusty, a wonderful Lhasa Apso who lived to be 15.

I'm so sorry for your losses...

Kelly-

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. When my beloved English Mastiff passed away, a friend send the following poem to me. I hope it brings you some of the comfort it brought me.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
