Which job should I get???
Okay, I've been searching for a job for the past month with no results, and now in the matter of three days I've gotten callbacks for 2 and told to call for a third.
The first one I've basically got, so long as I show up.
It's an on campus job doing telephone interviews for the Bureau of Socilogical research. It's $8.21/hour, and I only have to work 3 four hour shifts a week, whenever I want (within normal guidelines). The only thing is that it is only temporary and probably won't last past the school year, and more than likely I'll be staying here in Lincoln this summer, so I would need something to supplement my other job (hopefully being a phlebotomist at a hospital.)
The second one I got called for an interview on Saturday. It's being a server at a resteraunt at a Golf Course (not a country club). No idea of hours, $$$ or anything like that, but it would definately last into summer.
Third, I was told to call back to be a server at Ruby Tuesday's (kinda like Applebee's or Chili's if you've never been to one.) Here, I don't know that I would even get an interview, or any clue as to money. They said they had a lot of college students work for them and are used to switching schedules and stuff...
Which do you think would work out the best??? I could probably make the most $$$ at Ruby Tuesday's if I get a position there. Obviously the phone calling job would be the most flexible. And I have a pretty good shot at the other resteraunt.
Right now I'm just overwhelmed and don't know what to do...

i did phone surveys for a year, it pretty much sucked..it was convenient, and the money was good, but you have no idea how long 4 hours can be when you can't get anyone on the phone/anyone to take a survey

I'll second that. I've never heard anyone say how much they love their telemarketing job.

It isn't telemarketing...I'd actually be doing a survey...don't know if that makes it any better, but I have a lot of friends at Gallup and they all love the calling they do.

As far as the calling center goes, is it stable, or is it a "by contract" thing? By that I mean, a friend of mine worked for a survey company, and she worked and was doing well for about 2 months, then they didn't have any contracts for like almost a month, and therefore they didn't have anyone to do surverys for= no job! So check into that aspect!
As for advice, I am sorry, I won't offer you anyone on which to take because I don't know your personality, but just weigh your options and ask questions!

Well, I have several sisters who work at Chili's and Ham's...and for the most part, they really hate it. It's long hours, and no matter how "flexible" they said they were at first, they ended up doing shifts they didn't have time for, skipping important things to go to work, etc. But it could be different somewhere else, and the money is good.
Don't know much about the telephone job, I think I might kinda like doing something like that.
But the golf course job could be fun... I would think working at a golf course restaurant would be a relaxed atmosphere.

I guess it all depends on how much money you're willing to make and how much of a people person you are.
I work as a hostess at a downtown restaurant and my server friends tell me how much they make. The nicer you are, the more money you make. They make up to 200 dollars on a weekend night and 50 dollars on a weekday. It can be stressful, but hey....money talks. So, if you're willing to make a lot of money in a short period of time I suggest you be a server.
I used to work at Ruby Tuesday's as a hostess and I really enjoyed my time there. If I didn't have to quit to go to college I probably would still be working there.

Golf Course type of jobs are like Yacht club type of jobs.
When I was in high school my parents were members of a yacht club and still are. On sundays after Mass we would go there to eat lunch ( Their lunches are fabulous ). However, I always felt sorry for the servers who brought our food out. Older rich people tend to be picky about stuff, my parents were'nt bad but some of the other people there were absolutly rude to the workers. of course all servers know you need to bust a$$ if you want a good tip and at that place the average dinner would cost you about $40-50$ per person. I guess thats why those servers always put up with that kind of crap. For the 4 of us to eat the ticket would usually run about 200-240$ depending on whether or not we ate desert, for the server that meant at least a 60$ tip. Thats not too bad for a 30-45 minute meal.

I worked at a country club for fun one summer and I really liked it. I worked on the course and got a great tan.
I say go for the country club... you'll have to put up with stupid customers in any serving job, might as well make sure it's at a place where they can compensate well!

I have a "porcelain" complexion... it's a sign of nobility and grace... don't knock it!
At least I won't be wrinkled when I'm older!
Although I do need to tan for my trip next week!

Just for claification...the golf course is public, this is not a Country club. The resteraunt is a bar and grill type of place, and again I stress that it is a public golf course.
